shysal, yes, I've found it's most painful at night. It hurts most when lying on the inflamed hip but turning onto the other side doesn't solve the problem, it still hurts. Mine also varies over the weeks, sometimes manageable others much less so. I have inflammatory and osteo arthritis and initially, like you, assumed the pain was down to osteo. My GP confirmed it's bursitis because a bone density scan a couple of years ago indicated my hips are ok.
I saw the physio and was given exercises but find yoga and walking keep me moving. The class I go to has women 65 - mid 70's and the teacher is excellent. I find the pain reduces the day after classes and keep telling myself to build daily practice into my day.
