The government has managed to set this up. Has anyone else noticed?

Channel 4 news tonight there will be a report about the ambulance service.

I have been waiting for this since 2010. I think that this is a fight that absolutely must be won. Didn't take than long once the Libs were gone from their coat-tails

I watched the Channel 4 news report about the ambulance service. It's quite frightening the number of taxis that are being used instead of ambulances, even for a woman that had pre-eclampsia. Apparently only about two percent of private ambulances have paramedics.
We definitely need more paramedics. They saved my life two years ago.

The person who brought up the idea of charging for the NHS was Lord Prior. He wants to have an enquiry into an insurance based NHS, which has just been discounted by the last enquiry. Obviously the last enquiry did not come up with the right answer.

Lord Prior was in charge of the CQC until he was made a lord. Now we know why.

Jeremy Hunt has come out in the open now.

This is pushing me towards voting for Jeremy Corbyn, something I onestly hadn't thought I'd when he threw his hat in the ring (so to speak) Before anyone tells me JC as leader won't stop the tory plans, I know that but I'm increasingly sure we need a strong opposition that represents the poor and vulnerable along with "ordinary hard working families"

vampirequeen Fri 17-Jul-15 18:26:00

I agree Iam64. Definitely pushing me towards JC. At least he'll put up a defence and make people aware of what's happening rather than letting the Conservatives slip the privatisation of the NHS in quietly.

Private sector Ambulance Services have been taking NHS contracts for a few years now they have few paramedics and their training leaves a lot to be desired. They do the job on the cheap and no one seems to of noticed them creeping in.

durhamjen Fri 17-Jul-15 18:49:38

It was on Channel4 news last night. Very worrying. I would not want a taxi to turn up if I rang 111.

An interesting idea from Giles Fraser.
Went to the Magna Carta exhibition today. My grandson asked the woman showing us in if John was a bad king. She said he was but she thought Henry Vlll much worse because of what he did to the country.

I thought I would add this link. As I realised that even if the NHS has an insurance scheme, that does not mean that it would be privatised.

As regards JC.
I suppose it could be said that as Labour are not in power anyway, JC could be the leader up until nearer the next election.
But they would still need to find a leader to take them through the election, nearer the time.

Looking at the varios health systems

whitewave Mon 20-Jul-15 09:15:31

BUMgrin can't get to grips with this b.....y tablet!!!

As I was saying before being rudely interrupted.

What I think is that we should fight this privatisation with everything we can. But what I fear is that we will end up with the worst of all world's, because chipping away at the public part without seeming to have a grand overview like the Dutch or Germans means we will end up like New Zealand.

Another petition to sign. He never talks to health professionals. The Kings Fund used to be on his side, but I never see anything backing him up now.

durhamjen Mon 20-Jul-15 11:15:46

The petition was actually started by the NHS less than a day ago, so if you think you've already signed it, you have probably signed something similar, but not this one.

whitewave Mon 20-Jul-15 13:42:51

Signed. Honestly this is what I mean about getting rid if government interference! I bet you don't get this in some of the other countries we've looked at

durhamjen Mon 20-Jul-15 19:20:19

Not in Denmark, anyway.
There is another petition started on the government petition website.

petition.parliament.uk/petitions/104334

100, 000 signatures gets a response. Possibly not the response we want, but it'll be a start.

durhamjen Mon 20-Jul-15 19:43:53

This is brilliant. After Jeremy Hunt posed for a selfie in scrubs, a doctor set up imimworkjeremy so other doctors could send photos to show him they were not shirkers.

durhamjen Mon 20-Jul-15 20:45:41

Over 75,000 signatures on the change.org petition already, in just over a day. I hope they have all signed up to the parliament one too.

durhamjen Mon 20-Jul-15 22:59:08

Over 41,000 signatures on the parliament petition now.
12,000+ in the last hour.

Anyone hear the doctor in the audience on Question Time? Made some great points and showed how junior doctors are really upset about what this government is doing. The NHS is not safe in this government's hands.

durhamjen Sun 27-Sep-15 00:01:57

I thought so, too, trisher.
Hadn't realised until today that junior doctors only earn £24,000, and the Tories are thinking of reducing that. No wonder they are upset and leaving in droves. As the writer said, an MP without any qualifications earns £50,000 more.
