Mothering Sunday

Am I being unreasonable to feel very hurt that my DD ,SIL and DGS will be spending Sunday with SIL's Sister and BIL, several miles away. They live about half an hour away from me, but I don't see that much of them ,unless they want a babysitter! I was really hoping to spend time with them on one special Sunday in the year. I have been given a small present and a card, which is nice, but time spent with them would be much more meaningful . I lost my younger daughter 4 years ago and her family are 300 miles away ,so seeing my 2 GDs is not possible. I live alone since losing my DH in 2008 and find Sundays difficult to get through in general.

I'm so knackered I feel like the clocks have gone back not forward.

Had a lovely day with DD1 and the two DGSs. I cooked lunch then we went for a walk with our two terriers and her two chihuahuas. smile

Having not expected to see my DDs today, both popped in for a quick visit!

had beautiful bunch of flowers from M/S, she loves them as much as I do,
I thought it was very good service that would actually be delivered on 30/3/14, then a lovely phone call from them after they had been to Church. From DD1 by the way
Then a while later DD2 picked us up and took us to hers where she gave us a truly wonderful lunch [she is the best cook , and very innovative]
We also talked about getting a dog share ie we would have him Monday/Friday, they would have him Sat /Sun so would suit everyone,as we take holidays Stateside twice a year [at the moment].
Anyway will see what we will see , I am
rather keen actually as I would love a pet

Feeling quite chuffed that I know my children so well. As predicted my eldest son did call round with a beautiful handmade (by his artist wife) card, a bunch of daffodils and a framed photograph of the two of us taken on his wedding day. He stayed long enough to have a proper chat and then returned to his in laws who live less than a minutes walk from me. grin My younger son phoned me and I had several texts emails etc. from the others, plus a couple of floral contributions. The Wonderful Man cooked a lovely meal for his parents and me and then we spent a couple of hours with some young friends. smile A lovely day.

I was taken out for lunch by my three DDs and my 11 year old DGs came along with his mum. He was very proud to pay for his Mums meal and had taken her breakfast in bed.

The best part of my day were the lovely messages written in cards from my girls. Money cannot pay for them.

I would wait forever for a card from my son and whilst it really doesn't bother me I admit a telephone call or a text would have been nice.

I wouldn't dare miss visiting my mum as she really would take the huff.

Biker that sounds a lovely treat. I love Llandudno. I had a lovely two days with all my boys and my beautiful daughter smile

I had cards from both children, DS's usual funny one. A nice presse from DD who I saw on Saturday after babysitting for her Friday night. My Mothers day treat for DD.

With DD working shifts I know any special days are likely to be affected by her work and I don't not worry any more.

I had a card which seemed to be from little DGS. I don't know if he made it at nursery or at home. That is still enough of a novelty for me to thoroughly enjoy getting such things.

As for the day itself I took myself off for a Geology day trip long before OH was even awake.

A lovely day yesterday. Lunch and presents with daughters and children, tea with son and family and some tickets to see Mama Mia in Blackpool in a few weeks, and today my youngest son (working yesterday) is doing lunch for us. The gifts are lovely, but it's time with each other I treasure. I prefer the attention to go on the mums with young children - hand-made cards from the kids, daffodils picked from the garden (preferably theirs!) and a little lie-in for a change smile

I didn't see my son and his family. I know I was partly to blame because I was away until Sunday afternoon, and then spent time with my elder son and his family (my son's don't get on). But until I sent him a text saying I was home, I didn't even receive a 'Happy Mothers Day' message. No card or anything. I don't think he realises how hurtful it is!
