Was reading in the weekend newspaper that they are bringing out a new series of MAPP & LUCIA, I am thrilled, as I used to love it when it was on in the 70"s

My gs calls planes 'up there' as we point at them and say 'look, up there'.
i had an Uncle Cyril and for years, until I was quite old, thought his name was Squirrel.
A local lady, when recounting a story about the 'naughty boys' school' in our village, told me that the boys 'went on a ravage and decimated their dormobiles' .

We used to eat 'ambadade' and 'beeannos' when we were kids.

Our Daughter, when really young, couldn't get her tongue round "crisps" and used to call them pisses.

Whenever she had a bag she would say "do you want a p*ss?".

My bugbear is people who say 'pronounciation' - including a Speech Therapist I know....

My DGS has always had his own vocabulary and even at 8 still says nooz for use and weeout for without. Some of his early words included ambleeance and binocleers. It hasn't helped having close family from Wick, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Lanarkshire!!

Alygran....nice word for a conservatory where I live is a "sitootery"! (Sit-out-ery)

My MiL used to say, 'I'm losing my facilities now I'm getting older'.

Our favourite is probably country trees for conservatory from DGS aged 4!

One of my daughters had dyslexic tendencies when little (somehow grew out of it and is now a magazine editor!) and mis-read lots of labels - the family still refer to a certain tinned fish as 'Slid'.....

My honorary Mum always says "what the hair oil's that?" Always makes me smile.

My mum used to sound her aitches where there aren't any and struggled with the word 'iota'. She would say, 'I couldn't care one high hooter'.

I can remember Gordon Brown in his budget speech saying the price of cigarettes (or something) was going to be increased by one pence.

One of my favourites is a young child of my acquaintance who solemnly informed me that God's first name is Peter.

Because we say 'Thanks Peter God'.

And, dating from when our son was small, we still stack the pots in the doshwisher.

One child from Surrey rendered the hymn as,"There is a green hill Farnham way".Lovely!

Ever since they first appeared on the scene, our family has always referred to Bucks Fizz with the first letters reversed!

Should be "butterflies" not butterfiles!

I was at a Macmillan coffee morning this morning when it started to rain really heavily.3-year old George announced "Oh no! We'll need our underellas". I think that's a better name for them!

DD always called butterfiles, flutterbies and again I prefer that as a very descriptive name!

When my husband was travelling abroad once, I asked him to pick up a bottle of Paloma Picasso for me from the duty free shop. He rang, whilst there, saying he'd looked on all the counters but couldn't see anything by Pamela Picasso - doesn't have quite the same ring somehow does it

My mum went to see 'Lezz Miserabulls' with the WI.

Just read a post on facebook from a friend of mine about her DD, she referred to her continual chatter as "purple diarrhoea". I', assuming she meant verbal diarrhoea.
When my DD was little she used to like pillarcatters.

My dd once said to DGS 'you're such a comedian.' His reply?
"Don't be stupid mummy, if I was a comedian my tongue would stretch to the other side of the room!"
