Both my 2 youngest gran Kids year 7&8 wear these plimsolls / daps as school shoes they are only £4 a pair but should I tell my daughter to get them new leather school shoes or say the shoe zone plimsolls are a good idea ?

DD3 wears black canvas shoes to school too. £6. If it's what she wants and will wear, can get away with it, doesn't mind getting wet feet.... why should I care?

thatbags Wed 10-Jun-15 17:02:25

They have thick soles so probably v comfortable.

Jeez, is this all the OP has to worry about?? School shoes = snooze......zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

soontobe Wed 10-Jun-15 17:25:42

I had to look up that word Soputra, as you would expect.
I couldnt care less if it is a soliloquy grin. Why would I?

Elegran Wed 10-Jun-15 17:26:39

No, the OP hasn't broken any rules, apart from the unspoken one "Thou shalt not bore the pants off thy readers, wind them up with fake questions or treat them as the fools they definitely are not."

Are the schools on holiday again? I suspect the exams are over and some adolescents are on the loose with nothing to do. Bring back child labour! Send 'em up a chimney with a hand brush and a sack.

I loved the smell of that stuff they used to whiten our plimsolls!

Yes. A lot of kids off school as it's exam period. hmm

Quite puzzled about how he/she managed the picture though!

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 10-Jun-15 18:05:54

Nothing wrong with a soliloquy. I've had one or two on here. Very enjoyable at the time. smile

Ana Wed 10-Jun-15 18:16:23

You're right, jingl!

This isn't a Picture thread...confused

Ana Wed 10-Jun-15 18:20:25

Perhaps, as the biscuit and football pics are now permanently available, all threads are now picture threads? grin

soontobe Wed 10-Jun-15 18:23:57

Could this be an advert for a certain shoe xxxx shop? Like the previous ones? Who all mentioned the same shoe shop?

Ana Wed 10-Jun-15 18:42:25

Ah, but on this thread Liza80 refers to Primark plimsolls.

Sneaky way of advertising jingl?
I hadn't noticed that.

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 10-Jun-15 19:46:58

I think it's a very techie 16 year old. They teach 'em far too much at school these days! grin

Eloethan Wed 10-Jun-15 23:42:38

I quite often wear plimsolls like those with jeans. They are comfortable for walking but, of course, not suitable for wet weather and they make the feet sweat so I don't think they're suitable for wearing in school all day either.

I think leather shoes for school are much better and, although more expensive, will stay fresher and last longer.

I wonder which school this is? Most schools now seem to be so strict on uniform, only proper school shoes will do, black trainers and other forms of footwear are not allowed. Maybe this school needs to tighten up on uniform requirements.

thatbags Thu 11-Jun-15 06:39:32

Canvas is more breathable than leather so I've never really understood that thing about canvas shoes 'making' feet sweat.

Feet sweat. Full stop. It partly depends on what you're doing. Playing tennis... likely. Walking a good deal... likely. Sitting in classrooms and walking between them... less likely.

Logic.

thatbags Thu 11-Jun-15 06:39:53

PS Minibags's shoes do not smell.

thatbags Thu 11-Jun-15 06:40:11

Wel, they smell like shoes, obv.

Gran11 Thu 11-Jun-15 08:06:26

It would be a disaster if the school tightens up on uniform thankfully they are not parents had a vote last year and 78 percent were in favour of keeping the polo shirt and jumper instead of changing to a more formal uniform

soontobe Thu 11-Jun-15 08:19:21

Really? Well that is good I suppose. It helps you to like a school better if the uniform is more to your liking.

Bez Thu 11-Jun-15 08:19:56

I always thought it was the horrid stuff they made the sole from which caused the smelly feet etc. A primary school I worked at had a rule that the children all wore plimsolls once inside the school - nightmare every playtime changing into shoes and tying laces etc. Inside PE was always barefoot and generally speaking there was an all pervading smell of feet and rubbery soles in the classroom when they all removed the things! The next headmistress got rid of that idea thank goodness.

soontobe Thu 11-Jun-15 08:20:04

Do you want to say what else you dont like about your school?

Gran11 Thu 11-Jun-15 08:59:58

I think blazers are to formal for school glad my gran kids school dosent have them also they are far to expensive

Soutra Thu 11-Jun-15 09:06:42

hmm

Stansgran Thu 11-Jun-15 09:14:39

Ah bless
