Both my 2 youngest gran Kids year 7&8 wear these plimsolls / daps as school shoes they are only £4 a pair but should I tell my daughter to get them new leather school shoes or say the shoe zone plimsolls are a good idea ?

What the heck is this thread all about? I really don't get the OP. "Should I tell my daughter to get new leather shoes...?" For heaven's sake, why would you feel the need to come on GN asking a question like that? How do you manage to get through your day if you are unable to make simple decisions without going on a forum?
It is obviously a wind-up or, as someone suggested upthread, a bored teenager thinking grans are a bunch of mindless dribbling twits. I hope that by now they've been totally disabused of this idea grin

I think that this child is 11 - hence year 7, going to year 8, and Gran11.

You are probably quite bright, having fun, but dont have that many friends.
School is finished soon. I think that you need to get into clubs that spark your interest. Where you hopefully will be able to make some friends. It is better than spending too much time indoors on a computer.

I have said to her this morning the plimsolls are good idea 2 grandsons want them and they are cheap
I was just wondering if people seen them as acceptable in other areas because they are in most schools in my area

I think it's time to give up now. Seriously. You have been rumbled. Deal with it.

Gran11 Thu 11-Jun-15 12:25:32

What confused

Anya Thu 11-Jun-15 13:23:15

Do we say 'welcome back' perhaps Ashtree?

Yes, we have long memories hmm

AshTree Thu 11-Jun-15 13:33:39

Absolutely Anya. Not the feeble, short-memoried idiots this 11 year old thinks we are. (Note gran11 - your username is a bit of a giveaway).

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 11-Jun-15 14:10:54

The poster could be gran to 11 children.

soontobe Thu 11-Jun-15 14:13:35

Good thinking Sherlock.

or else couldnt get passed the first number button

Ana Thu 11-Jun-15 14:23:38

Or could be using the binary system.

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 11-Jun-15 15:06:16

Gran11, will you tell me how to get a picture up on here. No one else will. sad

Bellanonna Thu 11-Jun-15 15:27:59

Gran 11. try and learn to punctuate.

When I (and DC were at school) wearing plimsolls, other than in games lessons, was a sign of poverty. I wonder if this attitude to canvas shoes still hangs around some grandparents, which is why they are not comfortable seeing DGC in this type of shoe.

This is a bit like theft in a multi storey car park ......... wrong on so many levels!

Elegran Fri 12-Jun-15 09:48:10

We may have long memories, but some people don't profit from their memories and leave well alone.

Jane56 Fri 12-Jun-15 12:12:42

My grandson 11 wears similar style plimsolls to those but think he wears primark ones not certain though could be the sane ones

Nelliemoser Fri 12-Jun-15 13:56:01

Haven't we been here before????

Nelliemoser Fri 12-Jun-15 14:02:24

We are going to have this back again this summer. confusedYear 6 have obviously finished their SATs.

soontobe Fri 12-Jun-15 14:06:25

I am surprised a teenager wants to have fun with grannies.
His own granny must be so proud.

trisher Fri 12-Jun-15 14:09:41

Well Gran11 won't have done that well can't tell the diffference between "to" and "too", can't punctuate, and doesn't know past tense of the verb "to see"
Not just uniform this school needs to tighten up on!

loopylou Fri 12-Jun-15 14:17:15

What is this connection between blinkin' plimsolls and bored teenagers? Gran11's SATS English results might make interesting reading hmm

Could at least have chosen something anything vaguely interesting.....

soontobe Fri 12-Jun-15 15:02:59

grin
But I do think we cant always assume that someone who posts on gransnet has english as their first language.
If I were to go on a french website and talk about plimsolls, I would struggle grin

annodomini Fri 12-Jun-15 15:16:31

Most people who have English as a second language are far more careful about grammar than many English speakers!

loopylou Fri 12-Jun-15 15:37:05

True....but gran Kids? grin

elena Fri 12-Jun-15 15:42:09

It's clearly a wind-up - some people get a thrill (yes, that sort....) writing about footwear and getting other people to write about footwear.

As ever......DFTT.

(don't feed the troll).
