I'm 67. I met my 57 year old sister yesterday. I was wearing Robell tight stretchy beige/cream coloured trousers which I love. Got a spot on them, was moaning I'd only put them on. Sister said you shouldn't wear beige trousers anyway. only old ladies wear beige trousers! I thought it was a strange thing to say. Would appreciate views. truth please.

I'm wearing a white linen shirt today over an orange and white striped vest - looks much better than it sounds. Linen crops - cream.

Garden party/ white trousers cherry ? ?
You may want to rethink that.grin

I bought a pair of white jeans but they always looked grubby so I dyed them bright Caribbean blue and I love them and I'm forever being asked where I bought them. Bought another pair just to dye Bright Orange they go brilliantly with darker tops.

yes, we have a fete tomorrow
but I don't have any white trousers

Perhaps let’s make tomorrow a white trousers day? Let’s be brave, find some suitable underwear, and risk the grass stains, red wine spills, ice cream drips, children’s grubby fingerprints, etc. I’ve got to christen these white trousers sometime. A school fete tomorrow with four grandchildren will be the perfect opportunity(!).
Mind you, I’ll be wearing a tunic length top which covers a lot of sins!

I have 3 different style of white trousers and jeans all unworn and one pair of off white.

I'm too frightened to wear them.
I know the will be target for food and drink spillage (not necessarily mine)
Grass stains, insect marks, rain splashes, sun lotion, mud.
Marks off chairs or cars........

I know I am being quite reasonable as I have already said 'upthread' that I sometimes wear Beige/stone cargo trousers.

Should join white trousers anonymous

Although with white linen tops I also wear a white cami.

MawBroon Fri 29-Jun-18 20:43:31

Bras are nude anyway, Jalima (better than dingy white!)

Jalima1108 Fri 29-Jun-18 20:30:30

Just wear them!! (white trousers, white shoes, white tops, white anything).

But don't drink red wine grin

I may wear some loose baggy trousers tomorrow with a white top (White Stuff trousers, sale, and a top bought on holiday) but I don't really care as long as it feels cool.

Jalima1108 Fri 29-Jun-18 20:27:24

Nude (big) knickers (TMI) are essential and I love them.
and a 'nude' bra - doesn't show through, unlike white!!

FlexibleFriend Fri 29-Jun-18 19:01:10

I think it depends on many things , your shape, the style of the trousers and the shade of beige. Lots of old people wear beige so I see where she's coming from but if they fit well and look good wear them. I please myself where my clothes are concerned, basically if I like it others opinions don't count.

I wore my flowered wide leg trousers today with a white t shirt and open toed sandals.I felt summery, cool and hopefully looked ok. I can't wear leggings, i wear joggers indoors, and bootcut jeans or tousers when going out. I also own navy linen trousers which i love, i wear them with bright tops and white sandals and i feel fresh and smart at the same time.

SparklyGrandma Fri 29-Jun-18 18:04:11

Alexa it’s called chicken legs in some places.

If you are apple shaped like me with slim still well shaped legs, a dress is a good idea, shift shape not tight hides a multitude and doesn’t show the chicken legs effect...

On the subject of light trousers being see through, I was talking to someone I know in Sainsburys and she was giving it the 'big I am' as usual. But I had the last laugh because as she walked away you could see plainly through her white trousers that she was wearing white knickers with little blue flowers on them!

MawBroon Fri 29-Jun-18 17:43:29

I live in white/natural/navy/black linen or linen mix trousers but find that white goes best with most of my tops and linen shirts.
Nude (big) knickers (TMI) are essential and I love them.

Yes,I bought some white flat shoes from Hotter -they are really comfortable in spite of my wide feet. But Ive hardly worn them because they seem a bit, well, Essex girl, if you know what I mean. (Apologies to anyone from Essex!)
I do have white linen trousers but hardly wear those as they show every mark (as well as what I am wearing underneath!) So my cream (NOT beige!) trousers are much more practical.
I do have some patterned coloured cotton summer trousers too but they are harder to match up with tops.

DanniRae Fri 29-Jun-18 14:47:36

I know what you mean mostly harmless - I only wear my white 3/4 trousers - with a smart, black top - when I am on holiday!

mostlyharmless Fri 29-Jun-18 10:14:11

I bought some white trousers (well, linen crops) a few weeks ago jalima.
But I haven’t dared to wear them yet.
I don’t think I’m a white trousers sort of person! Cream, beige, natural, stone, neutral, pale grey - yes. But white somehow seems more ....... I don’t know ....... more noticeable?

pollyperkins Fri 29-Jun-18 09:21:54

Actually i think leggings, even with a loose top don't look good on larger ladies. Sorry. Looks like a lollipop or a ball on a stick from the side. Tall slim women of any age can get away with it. They are very lucky.

Auntieflo Fri 29-Jun-18 09:16:04

Jalima1108, yes, the coffee was hot. Ouch, but I was a big brave girl?? and didn't yell, too much.

DanniRae Fri 29-Jun-18 08:59:35

Well I wear both - yesterday I had on wide leg trousers and today I am wearing 3/4 leggings.
And tomorrow I will probably wear a dress.
It's more fun to wear different styles - actually when I am home and in for the day I wear trackie bottoms and a t-shirt.
(But non of these clothes are ever in beige because I just don't like the colour!!)

oldbatty Thu 28-Jun-18 21:00:11

so do we go tight or not? Uncertain now.

Alexa Thu 28-Jun-18 16:17:32

I think that colours are not ageing but what is sometimes ageing is tight clothes.
There are some ladies of any age who can wear a tight teeshirt and tight leggings and look elegant.

Jalima1108 Wed 27-Jun-18 20:12:36

I like the sound of violet trousers ...
