I'm 67. I met my 57 year old sister yesterday. I was wearing Robell tight stretchy beige/cream coloured trousers which I love. Got a spot on them, was moaning I'd only put them on. Sister said you shouldn't wear beige trousers anyway. only old ladies wear beige trousers! I thought it was a strange thing to say. Would appreciate views. truth please.

We did stay near there (how posh are we?) grin
But not on a yacht.
That was the first time I ate squid and it was chewy and horrible, have never touched it since.

I wasn't staying there Jalima, just jumped on a bus for a few Euros and went to "people watch" grin

If you visit resorts like Marbella or Puerto Banus, you will see ladies of a certain age wearing beige, ankle grazer chinos, looking remarkably chic and elegant.
That would be me smile
On my yacht

While pouring a red wine, trying not to spill.
It's not the pouring ..... it's the table to mouth part that could be the problem.
I am very clumsy.
So I should always wear dark or red trousers. hmm

It's all in the cut and material.

grin I’ve just this minute googled them, Jalima.

Jalima1108 Fri 22-Jun-18 20:25:13

ps, I have never heard of Robell trousers

Eglantine21 Fri 22-Jun-18 20:24:59

Nothing wrong with beige on the bottom half, teamed with something bright or deep on the top.

And always better than black, black, black, black ,black.........

Jalima1108 Fri 22-Jun-18 20:23:41

and - does Crimplene still exist?

Jalima1108 Fri 22-Jun-18 20:22:59

The only problem with beige trousers is that they will show the red wine stains .....

Jalima1108 Fri 22-Jun-18 20:21:58

I don't have a beige anorak .....
In fact, I don't have an anorak

Coolgran65 Fri 22-Jun-18 20:20:55

I love Robell trousers and have 5 pairs in varied colours, navy, black, silver grey, sage green, and ..... beige/latte/neutral/mushroom...
They are 7/8 ankle skimmers and I love my beige trousers to bits. They definitely do not look frumpy. It's how you wear them.
With a crimpelene (sp) top or a 'safe' top, with the wrong shoes etc anything can look frumpy.
I wear mine with funky Masai tops, sharp shoes or sandals, sometimes my Fitflops.

DanniRae Fri 22-Jun-18 20:19:16

I would never wear beige trousers of any design and as for beige anoraks.............shock
Sorry if this upsets anyone but annep did ask!!

Your view does count, Jalima. We're all old.

Jalima1108 Fri 22-Jun-18 20:15:11

We went out the other day and DH was wearing a beige linen jacket and navy chinos and I was wearing a navy linen jacket and cream linen trousers.

I said - 'Oh No - we look like those dolls that you can turn upside down!! We can't go out like this' but we had no time to change grin

Iam64 Fri 22-Jun-18 20:11:57

I wear a lot of light brown, fawn, beige, name it as you
Like. Love it. I bought a pair of those Robell trousers OP, in bright red. I was trying to avoid beige or black and succeeded. Don’t let others dictate what you wear, unless they have style you admire and the two of you a very good supportive friends

Jalima1108 Fri 22-Jun-18 20:10:57

You sometimes see old couples both dressed head to toe in beige. It's not a good look - especially with grey or white hair

I would never wear 'beige' trousers with a beige top.

I have cream chinos and cream linen trousers and would wear them with a dark (navy) or colourful top and sometimes rather snazzy trainers.

However, I am not a follower of fashion so my view may not count grin
And I am old.

That's right BlueBelle No crimplene but cream or beige chinos are fine.
Bright coloured tops with them no problem.

Willow500 Fri 22-Jun-18 20:05:07

Difficult one - I think back to my MIL and mum who both wore beige trousers and they did look kind of dated - on the other hand I have a pair of very loose wide legged beige trousers which look nice with a long top over them. Trouble is finding shoes that go with them that are comfortable!! I tend to just wear them at home instead. Just go with how you feel and be beggered what others think smile

SpringyChicken Fri 22-Jun-18 20:02:59

I was told years ago to avoid beige, it's what old people wear. Having studied people getting off coaches, I'm afraid it's true.

Jane10 Fri 22-Jun-18 19:59:02

There was a spoof advert in Viz aimed at pensioners and offering a 'beigeing' service - no item too small to be beiged!
Take from that what you will...

petra Fri 22-Jun-18 19:40:29

I think my Ralph Lauren's could be described as 'beige'.
They certainly aren't an old lady style of trouser.
As several have said: it all depends what you wear with it.

BlueBelle Fri 22-Jun-18 19:19:40

I ve never heard of rodwell so had a google and they look ok to me I agree with Panache beige crimplene NO NO but nice skinny light coloured jeans or chinos look fine and those ones look fine they should be for the price ....pretty expensive this Rodwell make

HAZBEEN Fri 22-Jun-18 18:57:19

From a "Tena lady"point of view beige trousers are a no no! Its black or navy for me. But I dont see them as an age restricted thing. Depends on the material or cut I suppose. My daughter was most distraught when she saw the label in my new black trousers said Damart!!
