I really get annoyed with these ads for smart meters.
Not only are there very good reasons for not having one
( unlikely to be able to switch suppliers ), but in my opinion. They are totally misleading. You will not automatically save money just by having one, but only if by studying the results you can work out how to economise on usage and thereby save money. Then there are these crazy suggestions as to what to do with the money saved. Bake more cakes? Power cities? I do not understand why the government has set the energy companies targets for installing these things. They are unlikely to meet the targets, hence the adverts promoting smart meters.
