Just a random thought, how many of you can recite the Lords Prayer? I come from a family who went to church regularly, and it was said at school, so I still can recite it. DD struggled to half way through, DGD ........... Think it’s a pity that morning assemblies are not compulsory in schools any more

I can recite it but as an atheist it’s not relevant to my life. My DC has assemblies at school that reflect all religions and no religion, and I think that broad view is healthy.

Yes a religious assembly is still compulsory but has to be carefully handled in our multi faith community. It was enshrined in law during the WW2 to stave off the threat of Nazism.

We learned The Lord's Prayer in the 50s but I never taught it when teaching. We stuck to stories with a good moral basis.
