To Believe the British Girl in Cyprus Version of Events

Young men, my brother has 4 sons, they were a nightmare as kids in their 40s they are still a nightmare their attitude to women is close to zero. Contrast that to my kids, 3 girls they went out and found husbands that would stay with them, they are all happy and settled with families, they get on with each other too.

I see a lot of young men just like my brothers sons, over the years they have had girlfriends who I know are “nice” but they have treated them like dirt. My brother and his wife are just a normal couple, the boys got into the laddish culture as teens and never came out.

I am hopeless at links but - I looked at the DM on line this morning. They report that public opinion and much of the media has turned against the young men in this case. The DM report is detailed and my reading of it does suggest this young woman is telling the truth.

is it known when the girl was charged with lying

Well before the court date as the case kept being adjourned by the judge as he had important cases to hear, such as petty theft etc.

However, she was innocent until proved guilty so the men should not have been allowed back to Israel at that point.

You must feel very ashamed of your nephews David. You are brave to admit that.

Thank goodness not all young men are like them.

Frustrated yes but nothing I can do about it, they are who they are, of course as a man I wanted sons but I the event I had 3 lovely daughters who let home a 18 and came back 3 good men. That wasn’t my doing but probably my wife gave them a good briefing what to look for in a man.

May I take this opportunity David to congratulate you on your laid back attitude to your daughters’ gender transition. Many parents would have struggled with just one child transitioning, three must have been hard.

I am concerned about the calls to boycott Cyprus as a holiday destination as it is not the large hotels/resorts that will suffer but the local communities when people lose their jobs and have no income to support families and spend in their communities.

why didn't their parents challenge their behaviour?
It is so sad to see young men behave so badly towards women.
It was hoped that blatant sexism was going to disappear.

I read the Camilla Long article in the ST too, and thought she made some good points.

Increasingly, I hope, the tide of opinion is turning in the young woman's favour as highlighted by the Camilla Long article, a doctor who examined her after the attack said the bruising sustained shows how she had been restrained. It also seems to be the case that a fair proportion of Israeli women are disgusted by the way these young men have descended into the mire by such appalling behaviour. It is good to know that they show a sense of sisterhood and fair play trumping any misplaced bruised national pride or the feeling that race, religion or ethnicity is somehow sacrasanct in covering up wrong. I believe a delegation is flying to Cyprus on Tuesday when sentencing is due to take place, to show solidarity with the young woman.

I have signed the petition as I totally believe her. I read this morning that some 'huge deal' had been done between Cyprus, Israel and Greece. They signed EastMed gas pipeline deal on Thursday. Read into this what you like. My opinion is they found the Israel men not guilty because they did not want to lose this deal. Our government should get this girl home now!

Pink. People mostly never change for the better, male or female once they get into a mindset personality, it either stays with them or deteriorates. Relationships often break down and this hardens attitudes, an ex partner may find another match and as long as neither changes all will be well.
