Not resolutions, but is there anything you're "not" going to do this year, or anything you "are" going to do this year (covid permitting of course)

We are going to have the holidays we booked for 2020 and 2021, and, in the case of 2020, paid for and left the money with the operators.

So in April we are having a family holiday on the Broads and in September we have booked a short cruise on the QM2.

Haven't decided on this year's holiday yet, but we will fit it in somewhere.

Am going to make sure I get out of the house every day even if it's only for a walk. Am going to keep on trying to eat healthier foods and walk more. Joint resolution with DH to value each other more, we do, but feel we want to actively show it more if that makes sense- a dose of covid for us provided that realisation. Am going to try to not stress about things I can't change. To finish our garden project.

Survive.. as since losing my job for being irresponsible enough to catch covid from a customer who decided to take my mask off as it was upsetting THEM!?!, I am now faced with no home as renting,

I am not going to hide my stomach under long tops, but do exercises and wear fitted clothes so I can maintain a decent shape.

I am not going to be controlled by a toxic person's drama anymore. As they say "Drama doesn't just walk into your life. You either create it, invite it, or you associate with people who love to bring it into your life". Unfortunately I have a parent who loves to make everything all about them and doesn't care who they step on or steal from as long as their needs get met. It's time to raise my boundaries even higher and live in peace, even if they cant.

Last year , I thought what is the point of making New Year resolutions when I break them so quickly even within a day of making them .
But this year -I've already got into my diet and exercise programme and a couple of kilos has been lost with very little effort .

My eating habits were appalling .

Finding my father exhausting I'd sit on the sofa eating all the wrong things .

A back and knee injury makes exercise difficult , but I'm persevering .

I made a resolution to do nice things for people ie : my father's s rude and ungrateful friends .
They are old,sick and they can't help it .
So far ,I've honoured that promise .

I'd like to do my writing and my art work ,which I miss .
And my biggest resolution is not to allow people even friends to manipulate me !

Going to try to do one little job to tick off my list every day, however small, and also go to bed before midnight more often.
Also, re start my yoga which I have let slip the last two years.
And, if possible, keep to the 5/2 diet which my son swears by.
And enjoy the fresh air more.

Well said! I'll join you! The first step is not to buy them in the first place. I've still got some left over from Christmas though!?

A suggestion for people that are thinking of saying "NO" if you can't just bring yourself to say it right there and then is to say
"can I get back to you later" or "can I let you know tomorrow etc"

Sometimes we are caught on the hop and we say yes when we really want to say no, saying "can I let you know" gives you a bit of thinking time. Unless of course your able to say "no" straight away and have it over and done with

After the last couple of years I’m going to initiate and appreciate casual social interactions e.g at the bus stop, in the cafe etc.

I am going to focus my time and attention of those in my life who really care for me and no longer have any contact with my relative who is an alcoholic. People say that blood is thicker than water, unfortunately it is not thicker than alcohol and I have had enough of the manipulative, abusive behaviour that accompanies it. Since making that decision I have been sleeping better and feel that I have my life back.

Not easy Foxid48 - well done. Glad you're sleeping better. We have to look after ourselves.

My plan is to try to expand the opportunities and skills I have already.
I attend a regular weekly Yoga class, but don't practice in between. I am leaving my mat in a room we don't use much and am hoping to try to do 15 minutes stretching and breathing each morning.
I am teaching myself to play the concertina, but weeks go by without picking it up so I want to fit it in to my routine somehow.
Losing at least two stone would be good for me in all sorts of ways, not least because it would ease the strain on my joints. Walking further would become possible, which would result in better health.

I'm planning a 'low-spend' January - so far so good, but it is only Day 3.

I have a couple of theatre trips coming up but that money has been spent so doesn't count - there will be pre-theatre lunch/dinner but a girl's gotta have some fun

I'm having a bit of a clear-out and although in dire need of a revamped wardrobe am determined not to buy any new clothes for the time being. I wear the same old things over and over, yet in the charity pile is a Marella dress worn once, and a Phase 8 never worn.

Onwards and upwards!

Oh and I will! learn to play my Ukulele

What I like about it is, it is not a "New Years Resolutions Thread"

It is things that we are going to have a go at or try and do, lots of good ideas of things to do, even if we only try them once, we have tried them.

If we like it then we will do again and carry on.

Some very positive vibes here and hopefully it may encourage others to explore new adventures, hobbies, crafts or even take up old ones again. Even if it's just walking round the block every day in whatever weather, anything.

Have fun everyone, you are shining examples to everyone who may need that little bit of a nudge (Like me)

Thinking of those with health/ mental health issues, this is the year to make your own health and well-being a priority, wishing you well. ?????

I’m not going to work, ??I retired at the end of last year. I do hope to find other things to occupy my time.

I will say one nice thing to people I see regularly, instead of nothing/thinking unkind thoughts.
I will not hog the tv controller.

Ps …..eat less/exercise more and declutter.
Will not buy shoes, boots, clothes, handbags, perfume, cushions - even if they are bargains in a sale!
Avoid buying anything that sparkles….I am not a magpie!

I’m not going to let people at work treat me like an idiot when I work bloody hard organising things for them. They’d soon notice if their pay was wrong etc etc. In fact I may just retire from that particular part time job and stay with the 2 days a week job which I love. I’m 4 years off retirement but hey…. what are savings for?.

I’m going to say “no” more often, start yet another healthy kick and hope to hire a small motor home and have a couple of short breaks in it

Try to put more time aside to devote to my hobbies

Not going to let people walk all over me anymore, namely, OH is getting the elbow!

This is my year of being kinder and gentler, to myself and the world.

I always go for a walk each day as my dog needs walking, and I enjoy the fresh air.

Also, going to choose a new kitchen and have it installed. Have been putting it off due to the disruption it will cause. But definitely needs doing.

DH and I recently started tai chi for senior beginners LtEve - we really like it so far.
Brilliant Moomoo - you can do it.
My health is variable which limits my plans but I have decided I will start each day with mindfulness to see how I feel and work out my priorities for the day. Then I will end it with gratitude for the things accomplished and future goals for the things I didn't manage.
