Mouth open duchess

I expect to be told I'm being unreasonable for saying that I wish there were fewer pictures in the press of Kate Middleton (oh yes, you can complain about that too ?) with her mouth open. Today's were accompanying news of her taking on what used to be Harry's rugby patronages.

I think she'll be a great ambassador (is that the word?) for the sport and, as usual, she looks a model of forty-year-old fitness. She even looks elegant in a track suit.

But the gaping maw? (no offence maybemaw; your maw is a different word).

I just think what lovely teeth she has.

I only see her if she happens to be on the tv news, but will have a good look next time, confused

The papers choose which photos to print. They have a picture editor.
The photographers will have taken dozens, if not hundreds, of the things at one event.
The ‘mouth open ‘ pics will have been chosen for being more dynamic.
It is nothing to do with the DoC

Wow cannot believe a person opening their mouth to laugh especially a Duchess. In all honesty she would either explode or implode if she stifled said laugh. Poor woman.

LilyoftheValley Wed 02-Feb-22 14:32:03

Not a problem unless she is eating at the time!

Me too ?

It’s nice that she’s so natural, not insisting that everything is posed. If I had teeth like hers I’d probably open my mouth more (at least they’re all my own though).

Pantglas2 Wed 02-Feb-22 14:44:02

Remember the picture of Cherie yawning behind Charles and the Queen at the Highland games?

Of course, she might have been bored but where was the hand over the mouth that we were all taught to do?

EllanVannin Wed 02-Feb-22 14:46:27

I can't say that I've ever noticed except her smiles or laughs, neither of which can be done properly without the mouth opening. The duchess is a genuine smiler, lovely.

Now if you'd said " celebrities " gawping, just showing, usually, a row of artificial pots, then I'd have agreed.

Nicegranny Wed 02-Feb-22 14:55:48

She’s a beautiful young woman and it’s great to see her happy having fun.

Chewbacca Wed 02-Feb-22 15:04:11

It's outrageous! A woman laughing raucously and with her teeth showing too! Did she not get the memo that said all members of the royal family should look angry, fed up and depressed AT ALL TIMES? How very dare she!

Iam64 Wed 02-Feb-22 15:10:28

Another cracker from chewbacca. Honestly who amongst us would relish Kate’s job. She seems to me to work hard. She’s good at her job so gets more work as a result.
Yes, she has beautiful teeth and a lovely smile

Baggs Wed 02-Feb-22 15:14:14

It's amusing how many have completely missed the point. I have no objections to Kate, nor have I raised any. My objection is to certain type of press photographs of her giving the impression that she's a loud sort of person who roars with laughter at the drop of a hat.

I really don't think she is that kind of person so I think the photos are verging on unfair.

Lucca Wed 02-Feb-22 15:20:04

Seriously GN. We have a thread objecting to this lady being referred to as Kate Middleton sometimes rather than the duchess of Cambridge (soooo ruuude and disrespectful ??). Now we have one about photos of her laughing. Maybe.. just maybe… get a life ?!

Purplepixie Wed 02-Feb-22 15:27:15

For god sake get a life!!!

Alegrias1 Wed 02-Feb-22 15:27:47

I'm just gobsmacked.

She's good at her job so she gets more work ?

She's not Judi Dench. confused

Dabi Wed 02-Feb-22 15:42:00

In the psychology that is media nowadays, the open mouth in an action shot persuades us that that person is dynamic, more like us and approachable. As the monarchy strives to update it's image and present itself as such it makes sense to promote these pictures instead of the staid royal look we have become accustomed to. They are keeping up with the times.

GrannyLaine Wed 02-Feb-22 15:44:10

Baggs you'd have something to complain about if she had teeth like mine!

M0nica Wed 02-Feb-22 16:09:44

It is a general habit in the media, most celebrities and media people who are photographed have their mouths wide open, cannot think why, although it might be to show off their expensive dentistry.

henetha Wed 02-Feb-22 16:10:04

It's pathetic really.

Ahem Algerias1, she’s in a different area of ‘work’ than the wonderful Judi Dench. It’s not work as yiu and I know it (or Ms Dench) but she seems to be getting stuff either Harry or Andrew did.

Allsorts Wed 02-Feb-22 16:14:13

I love her smile, wish I had those teeth as well. She doesn’t irritate me, I think she’s so natural and very attractive.

snowberryZ Wed 02-Feb-22 16:20:16

Blossoming

Agreed Baggs, the ‘screaming skull’ look is not exactly flattering.

Skull? Seriously?

She's got a beautiful smile.
If I had a face and teeth like hers, I'd be smiling all the time.

Granmarderby10

Gosh! I hope she never gets a skin blemish it could completely ruin the whole bloomin’ icon/goddess status thing?
I am so not photogenic and manage to look horrendous in any photo no matter how composed I am.
She looks just fine to me

Or a front gold tooth. She can't win damned if she laughs damned if she doesn't. Good on her for laughing when she was scruming down with the England Rugby squad . Let's hope she's laughing on Saturday after the Calcutta cup match.

Nightsky2 Wed 02-Feb-22 16:33:04

Some people are very easily annoyed.

How dare she laugh and how dare she look as if she’s having fun. I for one hope she keeps on smiling. She looks gorgeous.
