Mouth open duchess

I expect to be told I'm being unreasonable for saying that I wish there were fewer pictures in the press of Kate Middleton (oh yes, you can complain about that too ?) with her mouth open. Today's were accompanying news of her taking on what used to be Harry's rugby patronages.

I think she'll be a great ambassador (is that the word?) for the sport and, as usual, she looks a model of forty-year-old fitness. She even looks elegant in a track suit.

But the gaping maw? (no offence maybemaw; your maw is a different word).

Fully agree. Baggs - I was thinking the same thing

Haven’t really noticed her mouth being open. Do you mean she is laughing, or just with her mouth open as such?

Her name isn't Kate Middleton, it is the DUCHESS OF CAMBRIDGE. And how dare she open her mouth? What is the world coming to?!!!

Agreed Baggs, the ‘screaming skull’ look is not exactly flattering.

Anyone got a pic to show us before we pass judgement?

DanniRae Wed 02-Feb-22 13:44:00

OMG I have never noticed that the Duchess of Cambridge dares to have photos taken when she has her mouth open! Well so it has been claimed in this thread. I honestly can't say I have ever noticed and if I did it would not bother me one bit.

Mouth open, mouth half open, mouth closed. I guess it just depends what she is doing at the time.

Anniebach Wed 02-Feb-22 13:46:09

How dare she laugh without lips closed

TerriBull Wed 02-Feb-22 13:46:35

i don't think I've seen the photo referred to, in many she is open mouthed whilst laughing, which is fine by me, I think a laugh or smile sends out the right messages. Too many famous sulky, scowlers imo, which would be okay if they weren't courting publicity and caught by some intrusive lens whilst going about their daily life, but if you hire a publicist to put your fizzog out there, at least don't look permanently downcast, particularly as the public know that those who do that are often living the life of Riley.

She is laughing. Lovely lady. Perhaps the photographer should be more accomplished in his work, and take pictures when she has her mouth closed. For goodness sakes, shame not more important things to whinge about.

She has a beautiful smile and lovely teeth why shouldn’t she show them? If mine were like that I think I’d be open mouthed all the time. ?

Absolutely.

She always looks so happy and at ease in the pics I’ve seen - the one at the Abbey sitting in front of the Sussexes being the exception, where the strain showed on her face.

Regardless, I prefer fun loving Duchess to po-faced or pouty which so many young women of her age seem to pose whenever there’s a camera around!

Gwyneth Wed 02-Feb-22 13:52:36

Is the Duchess not allowed to laugh anymore? She always looks really natural and genuine to me.

Anniebach Wed 02-Feb-22 13:54:42

She was with a group of rugby players

Aldom Wed 02-Feb-22 13:58:16

To me it seems a shame to criticise the Duchess of Cambridge for her ready smile and laughter. It's who she is and how she puts people at ease when meeting with them.

Mapleleaf Wed 02-Feb-22 13:59:38

The photos I’ve seen show her laughing out loud at what looks like a rugby event. Is that not allowed then? Is she supposed to go around with a scowl permanently fixed on her face, and not show signs of happiness and pleasure in public? if they are the pictures you are referring to Baggs then yes, I think you are being unreasonable.

wildswan16 Wed 02-Feb-22 14:00:53

It shows how natural she is. Rather than always being aware of the camera and how she may be photographed - she just gets on with her job and reacts in a human way.

Unlike the hundreds of "celebrities" who pose at every opportunity with their "assets" correctly positioned.

Mapleleaf Wed 02-Feb-22 14:01:41

Would just like to ask those of you who disapprove of her laughing out loud, have you never done so yourselves? Perhaps not…

What a thoroughly unpleasant post.

Agreed! Not necessary at all.

Granmarderby10 Wed 02-Feb-22 14:10:47

Gosh! I hope she never gets a skin blemish it could completely ruin the whole bloomin’ icon/goddess status thing?
I am so not photogenic and manage to look horrendous in any photo no matter how composed I am.
She looks just fine to me

Baggs Wed 02-Feb-22 14:18:15

The softening of a raucous laughter look is not a scowl. I agree with those who are glad Kate is smiley and laughs a lot in public. I just don't think raucous suits her so well as something, well, less raucous-looking.

A raucous look is, as people suggest, appropriate with a bunch of ruggers but in so many of the photos of Kate the look is of raucousness rather than just enjoyment.

Just my opinion and, as I suggested above, I don't expect people to agree much.

Necessariness is irrelevant. I have simply expressed a thought that has crossed my mind several times.
