To think that Kurt Zouma should be banned from keeping animals after abusing his cat?

Just that really.

I know someone who used to be a (hobby) cat breeder and had trouble with local kids who poisoned/killed a couple of their cats.

They involved the rspca who, because they couldn't 'prove exactly' which youth had done it, prosecuted them for not keeping their cats safe (despite them being on their property, in a locked pen and behind 2 locked gates).

The rspca seized this person's cats, went to court 9 months later, asked the court to make the breeder pay boarding fees for 14 cats for 9 months and to give them a ban. Fortunately the boarding fees weren't upheld but a fine and a ban for 5yrs was imposed.

This was a respectable breeder who followed all legislation and GCCF (cat version of Kennel Club) rules and did absolutely nothing wrong.

When I look at the abuse that Zouma committed, then compare it with this breeder, imo he deserves, at the very least, the same punishment handed down to the breeder.

The fact that he is a famous footballer should not mean that he or his pets should be treated any differently to the rest of us. His pets deserve to be treated with respect (the same as yours and mine) and he deserves to be punished in exactly the same way as anyone else would be.

Thoughts..

Yes if I can find it I will write to the football Association as well

Gwyneth Mon 14-Feb-22 15:40:18

I would like to see proof that the fine imposed will go to the RSPCA and other animal charities and that he will never be allowed to own animals again.

lavendermine Mon 14-Feb-22 16:48:30

Yes, I would too.

Also contacted the Independent Football Ombudsman

LilyoftheValley Mon 14-Feb-22 16:48:40

Yes. A lifetime ban for owning any animal.

Just heard from the IFO - all complaints to go through the Club! So about as much use as a chocolate teapot!

Yes because the RSPCA have said they haven't received anything yet and have no plans to 're-educate' this idiot although West Ham say this has been arranged.

Perhaps we should try writing to Prince William, isn’t he the President or something of the FA?

Good idea, I believe he is.

Some of the money should go to Celia Hammond Trust who would use every penny wisely, do a wonderful job and being London based is most appropriate. The RSPCA are pretty discredited in lots of eyes and already receive huge amounts of donations.
West Ham always said animal charities, they never specified the RSPCA.

Good grief - just read a statement by Moyes that "he wants to make sure his player's mental health is protected ...." What utter crap. Moyes just keeps on giving, unbelievable.

I used to love football. It has completely put me off the game altogether.

MissAdventure Mon 14-Feb-22 17:36:13

They did specify that the RSPCA were going to be trading the idiot how not to abuse animals, though.
Hasn't happened yet, despite them making out it was being arranged.

MissAdventure Mon 14-Feb-22 17:36:48

Training. Not trading.

But they have since denied any knowledge of such a thing the RSPCA that is

MissAdventure Mon 14-Feb-22 17:40:49

Yep.
They must think everyone is as thick as Zouma.

We are such a hypocritical nation. We are sentimental about animals but eat them and feed our pets animals (made into feed). What is wrong with us?
I don’t condone animal cruelty at all but we have to be consistent.
What’s the difference between eating a cat or dog and cow or sheep?

... an act of cruelty to an animal - for the 'fun' of it - is a separate issue to whether we should or should not be meat eaters. And I don't think you can really conflate the two.

The meat industry attempts (though sometimes fails) to treat animals in a way that is considered humane. You can debate this, and it is debatable, but it really is not in the same category as some random individual deliberately and violently abusing an animal - for what appears to be entertainment.

So I don't think it's inconsistent if you are a meat eater to find this abhorrent.

Perhaps we all should have seen the funny side?

Very succinctly put Dickens ??????

I think his mental health needs to be investigated, not protected... kicking and slapping an animal is not the normal behaviour of a stable, mature adult.

MissAdventure Mon 14-Feb-22 17:55:40

I think this is the stance that's going to be taken, now they have realised what a storm of upset this has caused. angry

Germanshepherdsmum Mon 14-Feb-22 18:10:30

His mental health, my a*se.

Shinamae Mon 14-Feb-22 18:10:52

I think they are just biding their time and hoping the situation will blow over….. I have messaged Karen Brady at the club no reply from her or from the club as yet..?

MissAdventure Mon 14-Feb-22 18:12:37

grin
I think they will say he wasn't well when he posted that video.
He'll probably fo into rehab or something.

Zoejory Mon 14-Feb-22 18:12:51

Some of the WH fans are apparently singing supportive chants now.
