Just watched an angry man on one of the news channels complaining that as he lives in the country he has missed his chance to say goodbye to the Queen! He thinks there should have been a procession round parts of the country away from London and they have deprived him of his rights.
No matter what you think of the monarchy she was a woman you didn't know so why would you queue for hours to walk past ?

His coffin is in the vault at St George’s chapel, and the Queen’s will be placed next to it. They will not be buried. Have you never seen a vault containing coffins? He is not in ‘temporary storage’, he is in his final resting place.

volver Fri 16-Sept-22 15:54:50

Not quite.

As the Queen is laid to rest, Prince Phillip, who died at age 99 in April 2021, will be moved from the Royal Vault beneath the chapel, where he was temporarily interred, and put beside his wife, according to The Telegraph.

That’s correct volver it was mentioned often around the time of the Dukes death

Joseanne Fri 16-Sept-22 16:28:21

I think her parents and sister will be alongside her too.

Germanshepherdsmum Fri 16-Sept-22 16:31:23

My apologies.

Joseanne Fri 16-Sept-22 16:34:09

I'm guessing when Charles turn comes he will be put somewhere else?

GrannyGravy13 Fri 16-Sept-22 16:39:28

I think her parents and sister will be alongside her too.

Yes they will all be united in death

It has been announced today that Queen Elizabeth II will be buried with the Duke of Edinburgh in the King George VI Memorial Chapel in the grounds of St George’s Chapel

The burial will be a private service at 7.30pm on Monday evening (September 19), after her state funeral earlier in the day.

Due to this decision Prince Philip will be removed from the Royal Vault, where he was interred after his death in 2021, to join his wife of 73 years.

Yes.

He managed to walk behind his wife with good grace and went first to wait to welcome her.

People like to feel togetherness when something important happens.

MissAdventure Fri 16-Sept-22 19:38:30

Whatever the ins and outs of their marriage, they clearly always had a chemistry I think, even though those sorts of things wouldn't have been a topic of conversation.
Would it?
I genuinely don't know.

Everyone's gone nuts!

They have, haven't they? Wall to wall TV coverage, not to mention R4, it's all getting too much. Roll on Tuesday.

Roll on Tuesday
indeed.

The other banners F**k The Crown, along with disgusting songs, insults and jibes. From what I understand (through football fans in our family) Celtic supporters have a history of this

A small group of green brigade did this, not all Celtic supporters. But just for context, Sections of Rangers supporters have been displaying banners of "Fuck the Pope" for decades without so much as a murmurs of distain from the press.

StoneofDestiny Tue 20-Sept-22 02:14:04

Hope when dust settles the 4-9 million pounds bill for this 'tour de corpse' is looked at critically - and put along Charles stated ambition to reduce the cost of the monarchy! He and his mother planned this - without any hesitation about dipping into tax payers pockets.

When you next moan about your NHS collapsing, lack of NHS dentists, lack of police responding to your calls, school begging for handouts, potholes in the road...........think how easy it was to find the money for this show piece funeral, but not to pay public service workers!

Aveline Tue 20-Sept-22 07:31:03

The state funeral of our Queen is worth more than money to the UK. If the cost was split between everyone who watched it it would cost pennies per person.
All those servicemen and women are paid anyway so their colossal contribution to the day's events cost no more than an ordinary day for them. Thousands of people pouring into the capital must have been a shot in the arm to travel, hotel and restaurants.
We'll never know the final cost.
We already do know that sections of football fans are troublemakers and not worth paying any attention to.

Seriously?

New uniforms, training, their usual jobs not done, ceremonial artefacts out of storage and spruced up. An ordinary day?

Germanshepherdsmum Tue 20-Sept-22 08:34:59

new uniforms … their usual jobs not done. In the case of the armed forces, what would those usual jobs be? Doubtless you will also be able to tell me who had new uniforms. They looked like the uniforms they always wear for ceremonial occasions. Not sure that many new uniforms could have been run up in a few days.

We are a military family, service men and women have multiple uniforms depending in their duties/job.

The majority have No.1’s for ceremonial and official duties.

Parade training is part of their job unless they are deployed on exercises or war.

The pageantry on display over the last 10 days has been second to none, our service personal we’re exemplary and the populace should be proud of each and everyone one of them.

volver Tue 20-Sept-22 08:43:19

Do you think they are all sitting around waiting for a State Funeral? Is that what we pay the armed forces for?

How many ceremonial occasions do all those naval ratings go to?

Germanshepherdsmum Tue 20-Sept-22 08:46:21

I’m waiting for you to tell me what their usual jobs are, which they were unable to do yesterday.

volver Tue 20-Sept-22 08:47:41

Please don't preach about the armed forces to me. My DF walked down Whitehall many times in his number ones.

Please note I haven't complained about the ceremonial. Only the assertion that it didn't really cost anything for the armed forces to be there.
