^The biggest blinking surprise though is I am 72….What!??? Am I now an adult?^ ?

I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up, Kalu ?

If I could sing there's be no problem

That made me laugh, because I said exactly the same thing, that I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up, to my 11 year old dgs (who has just started at secondary school) last weekend..

And it's true. With hindsight, I know what sort of career would have suited me if I could go back and take with me the self awareness and self confidence aquired throughout my adult life, but sadly life doesn't work like that.

I was in the hospital for an endoscopy today. I said to the doctor, "I was in this exact hospital 30 years ago today." He said, "You remember that? Can you remember why were you here?"
I replied, "Yes. Giving birth to my son!" ??
My 'baby' is now 30 - nearer to 60 than to the day he was born - and he's a strapping lad, nice and tall, towers over lil old me!
Yup, I blinked. And his sister will be 32 next month.
I just want to know, WHERE did all that time go??

I think the doctor was very ageist to say to someone "You remember that? Can you remember why were you here?

If your children are only aged around 30, you must still be under 70, and anyway, most older people, unless they have dementia, have perfectly good memories - and I can remember quite clearly the why, whens and hows and hospitals where my children were born - and they are around 50, come to that I can remember my 'baby' sister being born over 70 years ago.

I am afraid that doctor would have had a friendly joky reprimand from me.

I'm 64, have a son of 43 and a daughter of 41. I have 6 grandchildren the eldest being 23. Time is passing far too quickly.

I was able to retire and it was all the more delightful having been offered a wonderful severance package.

Seriously...can anyone think of a way to slow things up?
