I too think it is a marketing ploy, or an attempt to counter the growing annoyance people are feeling about the numbers of unwanted emails being sent to them. Yes, it's true, you can just delete them, but it means extra e-mails to go through and it's such a waste of time.
Every day there are moments of sadness about the death of loved ones, and my feeling is that seeing an advert about Mother's Day cannot compare with the sometimes complicated emotions that accompany grief. However, that is my personal feeling and I understand that others will find such reminders upsetting.
I tend to agree with the poster who says that being sensitive to the feelings of others is a good thing - if it is genuinely felt and not just a marketing ploy, of course.
I find the term "snowflake" insulting and those that use it seem to think that being kind and sensitive to the feelings of others if a bit of a joke. I'm sure getting a good night's sleep is not the answer for people suffering with severe anxiety and/or depression, or those experiencing overwhelming grief.
