We are all being encouraged to take advice from a pharmacist if at all possible. When I tried to do this today, however, I didn't expect to be asked about my health problem by a person behind the counter, writing down details such as "and how long have you had this condition" before permission granted for me to speak to a pharmacist, never mind a G.P.
I'm afraid I had to apologise for being rude as I had reached the end of my tether, stress wise.

Oh my goodness, Lydue, that's far worse than "Do you know who I am?"!!

Callistemon21 Sat 27-Apr-24 21:28:10

Lydie, sorry.

I feel upset myself by unkind comments about GermanShepherdsMum.
She is a knowledgable poster who has never been either unkind or rude to another poster to my knowledge.
Please leave her alone.

Me too.

I find GSM’s comments generally very helpful and knowledgeable.

Agreed.

Me too.

At my GP now, you check in via a good sized screen, enter your year and date of birth, and confirm.
Very simple.

Did no one notice this thread is from April . And as many of us know GSM has been banned by GNHQ.
Hope that makes some people happy . Because it doesn't make a lot of us feel that way. In fact we miss her.

The Germanshepherd poster, I have noticed, gives quite snappy replies.

Has she never been rude to somebody and then apologised?

Eek! Do not ever go near this subject if you value your ( virtual) life.

Very rude - not to say mean spirited to talk about an ex- member behind her back.

I don't know if you are addressing me? It was intended as a light hearted comment. I wish the lady well and good to see her return with her own very specific style.

No, my apologies, it was meant for Netherby

What i have noticed lately at pharmacies .....and apparently its a national pilot ....is that they are asking all over 40s if they would like their BP to be read....they take 2 readings and then submit them to your own gp .....this is regardless of what you are at pharmacy for eg could be picking up your meds ....or be buying a packet of cough sweets .....the rationale is that conditions can be picked up early and treated......my DP went in to pick up my meds and was told its a 10 min wait but if you want to fill in the time come and get your BP done by the pharmacy assistant ....so he did ! .....I think its a good idea though

Shades of Mr Meldrew's haemorrhoid cream to his mortification !
I felt embarrassed being quizzed about having thrush in front of customers !
I changed pharmacies as I found the staff in Boots indiscreet about other patient's prescriptions .
The one , that I use is fantastic .

It is. A friend of mine had hers checked at a chemists and, before she knew it she was in A&E having discovered her BP was dangerously high. Now on medication and is absolutely fine.
