For her, it must be constant stress trying to police the public pavement in front of her own front door every time another dog owner goes past.

It’s not her business to police the public pavement, she should be policing her own dog by training it not to bark.

Anyway, I’m mainly here to say how adorable your pups are, NanaTuesday. 🤩 In the past, we’ve had two CKC, both tricolours. We had them at separate times but I do think they’re happiest when they have doggy company, they do so like to cuddle up.

If her dog barks everytime a member of the public passes her door with a dog then she needs to train the dog properly.

I am afraid I am guilty of telling someone where to walk their dog.

I had a horrible neighbour who used to come round regularly to shout at me for letting my cats go in my front garden. They liked to sit on the front wall together and watch the world go by.

When she walked by my house the sight of the two cats made him pull on his lead and drove him into a frenzy of barking. She threatened to let go of his lead and set him on them. Once I suggested that it might help if she walked him up the other side of the road and she yelled "Why should I!"

Definitely a case for Graeme Hill.

NanaTuesday, you have done nothing wrong. She may have had problems with neighbours complaining about her dog barking, as Chaitriona said, but it was certainly not your fault and you were not to know that there was a reactive dog when you were innocently walking along the road. Think no more of it.

Walking my dog a few weeks ago I was stopped in my village by 2 council wardens asking if I had a poo bag with me. I was able to show them I had. They said they'll be doing spot checks all over my city and surrounding villages. So now I make sure I have 3 bags with me every time, as on a rare occasion my dog will do 2 poos on a walk, and I'd hate to be stopped and have to explain that I'd just used all my bags!

I would have told the woman to muzzle her dog to stop it barking and said I will walk where I want.
I would like to know who actually issues on the spot fines to dog owners?

I don't expect it is very pleasant for her neighbours having her dog barking every time another dog walks along the street. Perhaps that is what makes her anxious. Or perhaps her dog is especially nervous. Whatever the case, it obviously upset you. But at least it was a one off for you. She needs to train her dog not to be reactive to other dogs.

I think I'd have just said ok, then gave her one of my Very Hard Stares once I'd gone past.

It was on the local BBC news that you needed at least 2 poo bags when taking a dog or get fined. The same news that showed a woman getting fined for tipping her coffee down the drain rather than mess up a litter bin by putting a half cup of coffee in the bin. That fine was overturned but it appears that there are overzealous wardens in some areas.
