DH and I have different tastes in decor. He likes more sparse(think Norwegian,Icelandic etc) I like more traditional .
I thought we had come to an agreement ie meet each other halfway 9n this.
However he has started decorating hall, stairs and landing.
We have come to agreement over wallpaper, but now he has bought a put up a hand rail that I can only say looks like a black drain pipe.Just a black metal.
He knows I absolutely hate this type of thing.I did say when he asked.
I just can't stand it ,it looks so cheap and nasty.I will try to post a photo.Wallpaper not started yet.
AIBU to ask him to change it

rowyn my daughter's house has no handrails.
The stairs are very steep and narrow...
I think it's ridiculous but she says it gives her "more room" without them.
She didn't take them off. She has a tall narrow 3 storey terraced house - so two sets of stairs.

She might be glad of handrails when she is older!

I went up and down the stairs on my bottom when I was a very little girl. There was a handrail but I couldn’t reach it. I think it is essential to have a handrail, as or even before you get older, especially if the stairs are steep. Arthritic knees and hips don’t lend themselves to the bottom method. It won’t take much to take the rail out that you dislike so much and put one in that you do. Do ask dh to do that. He may not object apart from perhaps grumbling he has to do it again. Buy him his favourite cake as a reward.

I agree, RVK1CR and have warned her about the safety of her small nieces and nephews..
