I have a very elderly Brother PE150 bought second hand which, according the sewing machine man who has just serviced it, is probably 20 years old. It only uses a small hoop (as far as I can work out) but this will be enough for me at the moment. It is still working well - unless if it is me that is using it 
and I wondered if anyone else uses one.
