That looks lovely hildaj. Hope it fits your GD - bet you can't wait to see her in it!

I've just finished making this top. Once it's blocked, I'm hoping it will fit my GD. I think it may be smaller than the pattern said, as I had different wool and used a smaller hook, but I wanted a child's size, rather than a small adult. It was all guesswork. confused

That's lovely! What smashing buttons! I miss knitting for little ones.

Oh that doesn't sound so bad, 100 stitches or so, Gk, easy to keep on ordinary needles. I just hate knitting with dpns! Can just about put up with circulars, but don't really like them. Think I will have a go with a little cardigan pattern I've got. When I've finished the cardigan I'm knitting at the moment, and the two dresses I'm sewing.... smile

Beautiful. I do love to see a baby in a hand knitted creation.

Beautiful Grannyknot, lucky GS!

indi I used two ordinary knitting needles - quite long because you end up with (from memory) over 100 stitches.

Top down knitting is easy as long as you keep to the stitch markers for the increases. And count stitches etc. Once you get past the raglan it goes very quickly.

I love it! And those buttons really do finish it off nicely, don't they?

I've not yet tried these neck down patterns. Feel a bit nervous tbh, don't know why! I've got a couple of patterns I downloaded which I'd quite like to try. Did you use a circular needle or dpns?

It's lovely GK he will love it I'm sure.

It is a wonderful pattern because it is "all in one" knitted from the neck down. Stitches are picked up for the shawl collar.

We really should have a like button, lovely.

Luckygirl Thu 19-Nov-15 21:37:31

Love it , and the buttons are super smile

Grannyknot Thu 19-Nov-15 20:59:01

That should be "knit it"!

...this shawl collar cardi for my little grandson (the pattern link was posted on Gransnet, but I can't remember who to thank)! smile

I used leftover wool as this is "test" will now knitting again - the "smart version".

I found the lovely buttons at the shop where we had our meet up lunch today.
