Lockdown knitting...

I've been knitting poppies as our local church wants to have poppies from the church tower down to the ground in November. Happy using up my red and black wool.

Witzend I love those little babies in baskets! I'm off to find the pattern now so I can make some for my granddaughters - thank you!

I've been trying some crochet by following a youtube tutorial - the ubiquitous square but me and my crochet hook aren't getting along very well so I've resort back to knitting some little knitted ornaments - useless but fun and good for school fetes etc if we eventually have them again

3 mini babies in baskets, just finished, they fit nicely into a takeaway container, all ready for posting to Gdcs and little friend. Basket etc. no problem but the babies were such a fiddle, I don’t think I’ll be making any more!

The Moses basket babies are proving a lot more of a fiddle than the Nativity babies, @Callistemon - the instructions are not so clear or explicit. Heads are coming out rather big for the bodies, but I’m not sure Gdcs will be bovvered.

I do love everybody’s projects - the little baby’s feet are so sweet!

I’ve done quite a bit of my first, very big fat Father Christmas, alternating with the 2nd Jolly Snowman wreath, and 3 mini babies in Moses baskets (one each for Gdcs and one for a little friend.)
It’s the first time I’ve ever had more than one project on the go and I’m enjoying it - get a bit bored with one, get on with another.

Now planning on 3 very big fat FCs (if number one turns out well ?) ditto the Jolly Snowmen wreaths, so one for Gdcs and one each for their school fair raffles, assuming there will still be such events come late November. If not, I’m sure dd will find good homes for them among her many friends with little ones.
Great excuse for forgetting about dusting etc. anyway!

Might add that having used some other patterns lately (one was a free download so can’t really complain) I’m even more grateful for Jean Greenhowe’s meticulously clear and detailed instructions.
Bits of instructions missed out (perhaps seen as too obvious to bother with) and in one case, just plain wrong! Easy for me to work out but I’d feel sorry for any relatively new knitter faced with these.

I’ve nearly finished the knitting, now have to sew it up stuff it and construct it. Will post a photo when I’ve finished. Bit slow as I’m spending hours in the garden. Knitting FC’s boots at the moment.

Yes, Ineedamum is right. I don’t understand the problem. Are you really using three needles though? You will need at least one more to knit in the round.

Do you know how to Kfb? You knit the stitches twice, so you increase each time. This means that if you start with 6, you increase 3 stitches in the first three loops and one in the last one, so you have made four extras. Four extras, plus the six you started with is ten.

Are we missing something?

Kfb creates two stitches.

So kfb three times is 6 stitches, knit two is two stitches and kfb is two stitches. Total. 6 +2+2=10

The first line makes sense.
What are you making and Waht is the next line?

Help please expert knitters. Trying to knit in the round on three needles, have just about got it sorted out. But the following instruction has completely foxed me: Round 2 (kfb) 3 times, k2,kfb (10 sts) The pattern starts with 3 cast on stitches, kfb next row to create 6 stitches, which is fine. Slip 2 sts onto each of 3 dpns and then proceed as above. For the lift of me I cannot work out how to do this and reach 10 sts. Help please and thanks in advance.

I've just finished some boots to go with a little suit l got for my first grandson. The boots fit well but the suit is too big. Guess I'll be knitting bigger boots.

I crochet. Mostly blankets for dog beds or afghans.
Doing a lot of it in lock down.

Anyone with a little Gdd might like this pattern I found - a free download! - on the Lovecrafts website the other day. The ‘baby’ is just 2” long!
Shall be making one for my own Gdd.
A search for ‘baby in a basket crib’ will bring it up.

I have knitted a rainbow, no children here now. but the rainbows look so pretty in people's windows I have hung my knitted one in the lounge window. Certainly colourful and uplifting.

I’m running out of people to knit or crochet for. I know charities need things . (Done baby hats etc) I need something challenging from time to time or else I get bored. Made these for my neighbour who’s just had a little girl!

I guess the little ones will be grown up by the time see them. Having said that though, the 25 year old wants the caterpillar.

I really should get out of my blanket comfort zone and knit some more toys, dolls etc. However, I've not long learned to crochet so it is a novelty.

I recognise that crochet hook and I prefer that kind too minimoon.

This arrived in the post a couple of days ago. It is a gnome doorstop kit for me to crochet. DH saw it on tv and ordered it for me to make. I'll have a go but I really dislike amigurumi. I much prefer making garments or blankets.

I have just learned mattress stitch too. It is so much better. I have been going a bit nuts with my knitting.
