If nothing works to your satisfaction Pixieboots you could make a feature out of it.
Last week I found a small hole in an old but much worn and loved white top and that’s what I intend to do.

Thanks for replying. Its not a fine silk, its a medium weight velvet but has a silk content.

Is invisible mending done nowadays? You used to be able to have that done by dry cleaning companies.
I feel neither of your suggestions would look good unless the silk is a heavy stiff silk.

Hi, does anyone have any advice on repairing a small hole in a silk velvet top? My first thoughts are iron on interfacing but also thought about fabric glue tha stops fraying. Any ideas? TIA
