Knocked a full cup of tea into their knitting/crochet bag?
It seemed to tip in slow motion!

It's a lovely quilted knitting bag with wooden handles and spaces for patterns, needles, crochet hooks etc. It contained balls of yarn and some experimental crochet flower squares I'd been making.

I've washed everything by hand; bag, balls of yarn, squares
(luckily the patterns down the side pocket seemed dry), rinsed then spun them all dry in net bags in the washing machine.

Now they're sitting on towels drying slowly and I hope will be none the worse.

oh Callistemon I hope you are not looking for tips because all I can do is laugh !

What a huge amount of work to get back to where you started, I know the feeling only too well!

Callistemon Mon 09-Aug-21 17:04:45

At least I don't take sugar in my tea!
And some did go on the carpet so I had to shampoo that as well.

I didn't laugh at the time (I did say a naughty word or two) but can look back and laugh now.

Now I feel bad for not being more sympathetic !

Grandmajean Mon 09-Aug-21 17:07:39

I certainly didn't laugh when my DH tripped and dropped a bowl of spaghetti bolognese on the stair carpet a few years ago. I rushed to examine the carpet before asking him if he was ok . I think there was also some remark made about not bringing food into the sitting room !!

Callistemon Mon 09-Aug-21 17:08:19

It's ok!

I thought tipping was the main issue here, lol !

Callistemon Mon 09-Aug-21 17:10:21

I did think it was DH's fault as he'd somehow got one coaster half on top of the other and the coffee table has a bevelled edge but he said I wasn't looking what I was doing.

He was trying not to laugh

Callistemon Mon 09-Aug-21 17:11:21

I don't feel like crocheting today anyway.

Grandmajean Mon 09-Aug-21 17:11:41

wine This has been spilled in my home countless times.

Callistemon Mon 09-Aug-21 17:15:51

Oh yes, as soon as we had a new carpet and suite, they got christened in wine
That was DH that time, it was quite spectacular, and he has banned himself from taking red wine into the sitting room ever since.

JackyB Mon 09-Aug-21 17:41:55

Horses and stable doors spring to mind!

I feel for you all. Our upstairs carpet is an awful hotch potch of unexplained stains. I've been meaning to get a new one since the kids left home. I don't think I would be as successful as you all at removing stains.

Callistemon Mon 09-Aug-21 17:50:34

The bag, yarn and squares seem to have survived ok but I'm not so sure about the carpet!

crazyH Mon 09-Aug-21 17:54:24

Oh Callistemon ?

Callistemon Mon 09-Aug-21 17:57:56

I've pulled the rug over that bit, crazyh
It's not too bad, just a darker patch, not as bad as getting out the red wine!

The problem is that the rug "walks"

Mattsmum2 Mon 09-Aug-21 18:05:48

No but dropped a glass of red wine into my friends handbag!

Lillie Mon 09-Aug-21 18:10:14

Yes, the air was as blue as some of the yarn!!

My eldest daughter often mentions the time, she must have been about ten, when she carried a plate of spaghetti Bolognese from the kitchen to the dining room and dropped it, all over our nice cream carpet.
I've always been very house proud and she legged it up the garden and didn't come back in for some time.
Callistemon I do feel for you xx

SueDonim Mon 09-Aug-21 19:10:21

Gah! ?. I hope it all dries out nicely. flowers

Our cat knocked over a glass of red wine onto a new neutral-coloured carpet. ? Not the cat’s wine, you understand, but even so! A local carpet cleaner chap managed to remove every vestige of the stain.

GillT57 Mon 09-Aug-21 19:15:31

I am amazed how much liquid there is when it is spilt accidentally. A cup of coffee on your desk, with not enough to merit another mouthful becomes like the parting of the Red Sea when it spills in the drawer. Defies the laws of physics. Suedonim you would be safer limiting your cat to white wine or a nice safe G&T.

annodomini Mon 09-Aug-21 19:16:47

I may have previously mentioned the time when I dropped off and my mug of tea flooded my laptop. When it dried out the keyboard had gone haywire and it cost me a pretty penny to get it sorted out. shock

Callistemon Mon 09-Aug-21 19:19:23

Not the cat’s wine, you understand, but even so!
That made me laugh!
?

A bottle of white wine got the red wine stains out from DH's wine spill, followed by carpet shampoo.
(He is not Boris, if anyone was wondering.)

The yarn has dried out now, it looks fine, as do the crochet squares (they' re not that good anyway).
I'd just finished a 6ft granny blanket so thank goodness that wasn't still in the knitting/crochet bag.
