Does anyone else feel the same as I do about handmade stuff being given to us from our Grandchildren ? At first I was delighted and put up the paintings, plonky wonky pottery plates, and other attempts but after a few years the novelty has worn off and I have to pretend how much I love these things .. Just give me some soap, second hand book, charity shop gift but please I don't want rubbish , am I odd ?

I always gladly welcome any gifts from my grand kids. After being estranged from my daughter for 7.5 years and yet still able to see her two beautiful daughters i treasure everything that they make for me. Also my eldest son’s children haven’t made or sent me anything in such a long time. Treasure them and please do not moan.

I really do not understand your attitude. I am not a dotty gran gazing lovingly at shelves.

My youngest son made a paper doily christmas angel and I still bring it out every year. Eldest son made a felt camel - still have that on my dotty shelf. Daughter knitted a teddy bear and its in my bedroom. The list is endless and they will stay in life forever. Just wish I had more. Sorry but I don’t feel the same way as you and as you can see on this wonderful site - a lot of others do not feel the same as you either. Have a lovely day.

My youngest GD made this for me when she was 6, now almost 13 and it lives in my purse behind a clear section. I see it everytime I open my purse.?❤

Yes!!!! -well you did ask! i still have stuff my children made and treasure the stuff my little grandsons are starting to make, and their pride and joy as the explain they made it for me. Unique and priceless gifts as far as I am concerned , but it would be a very boring world if we were all the same

Aw every craft from a child is made with love and shows their self expression and view on the world. Perhaps do some guiding and nurture - teach them something it makes it more meaningful and can turn into a childs aim in life, and they will pass it on when they are your age.
Working with wooden toys we see these benefits come back time and time again
