My snowmen are too fat!

I’m making 5 little mini knitted snowmen to go on a knitted wreath - wasn't paying enough attention when stuffing 2 of them, now realise they look frankly obese compared to the others! Luckily the re-makes won’t take long and I can re-use their hats and scarves.
Undoing and partly un-stuffing is likely to be even more of a pain - I sew things up so securely than if I ever have to undo it’s a bugger and a half.
Lately I keep doing daft things like this - another sign of senility creeping up on me? ?

Could you make another wreath with 5 fat snowmen on it. Or even three if time is short.

I’d buy the that one.

grin as would I!

The plump little snowmen are lovely. Don't change them. Snowmen can be a bit overweight too.

They look fabulous to me. I always find the faces the most difficult part, so that’s where my attention would be focused. Your snowmen are indeed very jolly, as well as cute and delightful. I love seeing your finished items Witzend.
Aren’t we exceedingly critical of our own work? If you’re still not sure, could you tease out some stuffing with a crochet hook? If it were me, I’d be happy with them as they are.

You are far too fussy, they look perfect. Just put one either side and not a problem.

NotSpaghetti Wed 26-Oct-22 17:30:30

Just put 3 fatties on maybe??

NotSpaghetti Wed 26-Oct-22 17:33:09

Oh I see you have only 2 and 3 skinny ones.
How annoying.

Maybe they could hold something in front of them to hide the surplus pounds, (I know that feeling) sprig of holly, sheet music for carol singing, that sort of thing. Or even a couple of fat cottonwool snowballs?

Your snowmen are adorable. Curvy and not-so-curvy. Is the wreath for your door?

No, it’s for the school fair raffle stall, which is why I’d like it looking as good as poss.
Nearly there, though….

Little and Large, a great duo!

Have they tried intermittent fasting, or the keto diet? smile

Witzend Thu 27-Oct-22 09:34:28

One of them is rather lighter now anyway, MissAdventure. 2nd idiot-error I discovered yesterday morning, was that while working in the evening (inadequate artificial light) I had made one pair of arms in pale cream rather than white. All too obvious in daylight!
So I cannibalised one of the fatties - snipped his (white) arms off and he’s gone in the bin. Evil of me, I know. ?

Callistemon21 Thu 27-Oct-22 10:53:19

?

I won't tell my snowmen!

AreWeThereYet Thu 27-Oct-22 15:27:29

? Blimey, that was a bit extreme. You could have just given him a sling on his arm and pretended he wasn't well ? You could have got the sympathy vote for him?

Here’s one of the pie-eaters with one of his slimmer brethren. I know they don’t look that much different, but with 5 of them on an 11 inch diameter wreath - I’ve made exactly the same before - it does look ‘off’. Much as I wish it didn’t!

Witzend. They are cute

They are lovely, the wreath will look brilliant. Mum & Dad snowmen with all their smaller kids....⛄⛄

You might be able to get some of the stuffing out by pushing a crochet hook between knitted stitches and pulling some of the excess out.

Seabreeze Sat 29-Oct-22 14:25:32

Oh there lovely big or small. I agree all same size would be best though. Well done for contributing to the school fare raffle.

Nannagarra Sat 29-Oct-22 14:34:49

Torsos? Arms?
Before you snip off their legs they’ll be hot footing it to the school fair in fear of your scissors Witzend!
😁

Nannan2 Sat 29-Oct-22 14:47:35

I prefer the fat ones.More jolly looking.😊⛄️

Nannan2 Sat 29-Oct-22 14:49:34

I knitted the snowman once (from film/book fame)-as i knitted him he seemed to grow & grow.Ended up about 2feet tall.😂

Ohhhh I was expecting much fatter! They're both gorgeous.

HeavenLeigh Sat 29-Oct-22 15:38:30

They look great Witzend 👌

Nannan2 Sat 29-Oct-22 15:46:30

How about one fatter one each at top & bottom of wreath & slimmer ones all around?

4allweknow Sat 29-Oct-22 16:18:28

I like both. The plump one looks morelike a snowman though. We never have thin Santas, they need a round plump base, why trim snowmen? Go with them both, adds more character. Sure no matrer what you do the wreath will be a work of art.
