Hi everyone especially any sewing machine people.

I am not a too well up on the sewing machine, but have dabbled.

I needed to sew something but have realised I must have banged my machine at sometime and snapped off two parts .

I have managed to find a new part for one of them. But for the love of me I cannot find what this other part is called.

It isn't the Bobbin pin, it is the piece that sits next to it.

I have searched the manual, googled, ebayed , looked on the Brothers website but cannot find the name of this part. confused. As I need to order a new part.

My machine (prob quite ancient as I had it given to me over 10 yrs ago)

BROTHER XL 2120

If I can find the correct name it may help me search for the correct part. Fingers crossed there will be some eagle eyed gran that may be of help. Thanks all smile

I will try and post pic. It is the little piece to the right on the black and white pic.

I did draw round the part I am looking for but it doesn't seem to have worked. On the first pic it is the piece that sits to the right (the one that shows in the black and white pic) it just names one part as a bobbin pin, but it is the other little part I need. ? hmm

Hello bikergran, My sewing machine is Frister and Rossman, but according to my instruction manual, the piece I think you're referring to is called the bobbin winder, and next to that is the spool pin. I hope this helps, and you manage to get it fixed.

Rosie51 Thu 11-Apr-24 16:13:14

It's the bit that stops the bobbin flying off the spindle and also stops the winder once the bobbin is full. I have used every possible descriptor I can think of, but haven't had any luck either. I'd suggest you email Brother with your photos and ask their advice. Sorry not to be more help.

Mine's a newer model, but I'm sure they're similar.

Is it the bobbin winder? A flatter, round piece that keeps the bobbin in place when you fill it with thread?

Auntieflo Thu 11-Apr-24 16:15:04

Would it be the "Bobbin Stopper"?
This is next to the Bobbin Spool Pin, on which you place the empty bobbin for winding.

Rosie51 Thu 11-Apr-24 16:16:32

Well done Auntieflo that's the one term I didn't think of grin

Callistemon21 Thu 11-Apr-24 16:21:38

Now I have that children's song on the brain!

Wind the bobbin up

Callistemon21 Thu 11-Apr-24 16:23:35

Bobbin winder shaft.

Rosie51 Thu 11-Apr-24 17:08:30

Auntieflo got it right. If you google bobbin stopper there are youtube videos where that's what they call it.

Have you contacted Brother or a Brother dealer as they are usually very helpful.

Your post reminds me of The Naming Of Parts - of the Enfield rifle !
I agree - it's what it looks like to me .
I've had a few sewing machines and my latest is a 60 year old Bernina .
My two local sewing machine repair shops have closed so getting it serviced is now a problem .

Yes, I kept thinking of Naming of Parts too, as well as Wind the Parents Bobbin up

Today we have naming of parts. Yesterday,
We had daily cleaning. And tomorrow morning,
We shall have what to do after firing. But to-day,
Today we have naming of parts. Japonica
Glistens like coral in all of the neighbouring gardens,
And today we have naming of parts.

Same thought here too!

Thankyou so much to each and everyone of you, it's not often I am stumped but I was with this one and of course if in doubt ask a Gransnetter to find the solution smile

Yes " a bobbin winder is the other part I need" so I can now google and find out where I can purchase one from.

Callistemon21 thankyou that is the other part I am needing which I have ordered off a well known site ;)

My next step was contacting Brother but seeing as though I now have the part name I can order the second part.

Thankyou all once again : )

Hi there, is it called the bobbin winder stopper guide? I found this on amazon USA but I am sure a good sewing shop that sells parts must do them. Good luck.

Callistemon21 Sun 14-Apr-24 12:03:56

This thread is beginning to remind me of What's My Line.

"So, Mr Jones, the panel has failed to guess your line of work. Tell them what you do!"

"I'm a Sewing Machine Bobbin Winder Stopper Guide maker. I've been making sewing machine bobbin winder stopper guides, man and boy, for the past 49 years"

Auntieflo Sun 14-Apr-24 12:18:22

Seems to be Deja vue? Callistemon21 doesn't it?
I had posted , long way upthread what I thought it was called.
Then it kept coming ..... Ah well, we tries our best!

Does anyone else remember the saggar maker's bottom knocker?
😁

Perhaps you're too young

If anybody is looking for sewing machine with swift delivery, I can highly recommend Sewingmachinesales.co.uk. I ordered yesterday in the late afternoon and it has just arrived. It was the cheapest price on the internet with free delivery.

Send the photos to the agent - he'll know. Or, better, the mother company.
