The new series starts on Tuesday 21st May at 9 pm so I'm looking forward to some wonderful sewing again.

The new presenter Kiell is also back to replace Sara Pascoe.

I'll be back to find what the amazing blue dress is made from! I haven't a clue......confused

Esme Young would love this dress and also the ingenuity that has gone into the idea and final product. Still don't know what the material is though. Esme liked to push the boundaries in her Swanky Modes days. I wonder what she privately thinks of the standard this series. I cannot remember his name but the contestant who stood out to me was an engineer who made the most spectacular kilt. All the tartan lined up on the pleats and even Patrick said he would be proud to wear it. Nobody of his standard this time around.

He was an Army officer (Neil? Nigel? can't remember). He did some great stuff and some dire stuff - remember the silver shorts with straps down to gaiter type things in the transformation round? πŸ˜…

The dress was made by a sixth former at a school in Gloucestershire. She has reached the finals of the Junk Kouture competition.
Junk Kouture is the world's largest youth sustainable fashion competition that challenges young people between the ages of 12 to 19 to create wearable art out of 100% recyclable materials.

The dress is made out of redundant vertical window blinds from her classroom.

Ingenious. I will keep an eye out for this competition. I would like to know what outfits the other finalists have made. This dress will take some beating.

It's amazing, isn't it Sarnia.

Is her waist that tiny or is there an inbuilt corset, I wonder? And breathe!

It certainly wasn't cobbled together in three hours as on the Sewing Bee!

There's a video of her wearing it on YouTube and her waist is still tiny. The bodice is boned but she must be naturally small or she wouldn't be able to breathe! She made the hat too

Just been looking for Sewing Bee tonight. πŸ€”
As there may be football tonight, where can we find it tomorrow M0nica?
Couldn't find it listed in The Radio Times.

BlueBelle Tue 02-Jul-24 17:33:07

The dress is completely gorgeous but the waist looks ridiculous she’s all pushed up not good for her body

M0nica Tue 02-Jul-24 17:55:50

this week's episode will now air tomorrow (Wednesday, 3rd July) at 9.00pm instead, taking The Repair Shop's original slot

Quote from the Radio Times. It will be on BBC1.

Thanks M0nica

I looked at those buttonholes, shouted at the TV 'Give those buttonholes enough time'!!!!

ixion Wed 03-Jul-24 21:31:06

Whatever is Suzy wearing?😱

grandMattie Wed 03-Jul-24 21:47:54

Whatever is Suzy wearing?😱

She always goes for the bizarre!

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 03-Jul-24 22:37:45

I’m afraid that whatever Suzy wears is spoiled by the quite awful tattoos on her arms.

Grandmabatty Wed 03-Jul-24 22:39:38

The right person went home, although it was a close call with a couple of others. I'm being careful in case some haven't watched it yet

Parsley3 Wed 03-Jul-24 23:00:08

Well, at least there was one decent made to measure.

M0nica Thu 04-Jul-24 08:03:44

Unless she is unlucky Pasha is going to win, but she is the best of a bad bunch.

More garments finished last night but the inabilityof most of the last 6 contestants left to make a properly fitting bra cup, really did indicate just what inadequate sewers most of them are compare with thos ein other series.

However last nights dress of the week was well compatable with previous years.

Millie22 Thu 04-Jul-24 16:31:48

Thank you Grandmabatty as I haven't seen this week's programme yet.

Can't wait to see what Suzy was wearing πŸ˜‚

I’m afraid that whatever Suzy wears is spoiled by the quite awful tattoos on her arms.

Suzys tattoos are her own business, my daughter has tattoos, and I would dislike very much that judgemental attitude from someone towards her.
They do no one any harm, do they ?

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 04-Jul-24 16:39:14

I don’t mind tattoos at all! My elder son has a couple of amazing ones. Suzy’s are cheap looking and awful.

Purplepixie Thu 04-Jul-24 17:12:26

Great programme. I thought Pascha would win from the beginning and I hope I’m right. The right one was sent home this week.
