Continuous bias from a fat quarter

Making bunting and bias from fat quarters. It sounds like some sort of comment about politics today.

I knew what a fat quarter was but really, life is too short…..

If you make a lot of your own clothes, being able to make bias strips to match or blend with the fabric is a great idea.
I don't do that much sewing now and was only introduced to fat quarters a few years ago, made reams of Christmas bunting (using ready-made bias binding and ribbon).

Oops, I mentioned the 'C' word and it's not even Midsummer's Day yet.

This thread title has to be the funniest I’ve seen in a long time.

The subject of the thread is interesting (although totally over my head) but some of the responses are even better. I love the idea of Boris Johnson as a fat quarter!

I knew what it meant but couldn't fathom out how to do it!

I've only used fat quarters to make bunting.

I don’t use enough to warrant a machine so have one of these kits.

Well done Karmalady. Very satisfying to create your own bias binding. I would imagine it could be useful to use matching or contrasting fabrics when binding the edges of your hand made garments. I'm always in awe of the lovely clothes you make. Thank you for the information.

I made two more lengths this afternoon, 1/2 inch and 3/4 inch. I did remember to pre-wash the cotton first. It is very satisfying but be careful join the correct lines or you will just cut loops

I had no idea there was any such thing as an electric bias binder maker. GN is a constant source of knowledge.

karmalady, thank you for flagging the YouTube video up. Lifting Pins and Needles is one of my favourite sites but I had not spotted the clever bias binding make.

I have a fairly free afternoon and will give it a go! I don't have the electric bias binding maker but have those little tools that you use with an iron. I pin the end of the fabric strip to the ironing board when it comes through the tool and have managed to avoid burnt fingers (so far!)

I just love the title of this thread. Took me a minute to work it out. No interest in how its done and I'll never do it, but it has given me a laugh. Thanks
