Hubby asked for a sweater to be knitted and he picked the wool. Knitting keeps me sane.

Looks lovely. Much needed in this weather too

Beautiful jumpers, well done ladies. I’m knitting a Simon Shawl (more of a scarf) at the moment but knit a lot of socks for DH and myself. Have to keep my hands busy while I’m watching telly!

Beautiful sweaters! I wish I had the patience to knit and crochet. I am a quilter and card creator.

LOVELY. It looks very much like the ones I knitted for my son and his partner.
I have knitted since childhood.
Have given up knitting for my husband as he never wears any of it! He just wears those awful black gilet things made out of some slidy synthetic stuff that creates static! and then complains about it.

Really beautiful colours. I love it. But - sorry, I HATE the word 'hubby'. It's just too cringe-worthy!

Many years ago everyone in the office I worked took up knitting Icelandic sweaters that were knitted on round pins. I almost completed my sweater, only had the last few rows of the neckline to finish, I put it to one side as we were moving house and once in our new home I asked DH if he’d seen the silver bag with my knitting in it. He looked shocked and confessed he’d taken it to the dump with some boxes. I’ve never let him forget it😂

Thank you pascal30.

That's gorgeous, you're very talented. I did a lot of knitting when I was first married 43 years ago, DH still has a jumper I knotted then. I haven't dine any fir ages, I don't think I'd have the patience now!

Well done, really lovely jumpers.

I am always envious of people can knit so beautifully.

As none of us is born knowing how to knit, it must take commitment to be able to knit as well as several GNs and natural flare must come into it too.

Dianehillbilly1957 Tue 07-Jan-25 18:48:25

I wouldn't say no, lucky hubby.

LiliWenFach44 Tue 07-Jan-25 22:08:41

Love the colours- what wool brand is it?

NannieDeb Tue 07-Jan-25 22:54:29

Love the colours in that jumper and the cardigan looks very cosy. I knitted Christmas jumpers for bottles and gave them away as Christmas gifts.

Allira Tue 07-Jan-25 22:56:37

I'm so impressed by everyone's knitting that I'm inspired to try again after 3 or 4 years of crocheting.

mrsgreenfingers56 Tue 07-Jan-25 23:38:26

Really beautiful, should be proud of your efforts.

Am knitting for Ukraine at present but nothing as complicated as a jumper!

A lovely thing to do on dark cold afternoons.

CanadianGran Wed 08-Jan-25 02:41:26

Its a lovely jumper and will no doubt be well worn in the near future. I have always been an organiser, and never see any advantage in doing something that you feel annoyed or tense doing. why not spend your time doing something you enjoy? So I organised a skill swap amongst friends from when we were young mums. I am pretty good at knitting and keep a good tension on , so it looks very good but oh how I hate sewing the garments up, so a lovely jumper can be ready to use but sill in bits waiting for me to sew it up and I am rather a perfectionst so am not happy with my quality of sewing. I am also quite a good baker and have an inventive mind to make unusual cakes. So what you do is this. The person wanting a cake provides all the ingredients, and you make the cake,. The sewing queen can sew my cardingan up bautifully. This way we use our good skills, that are then very much appreciated by the reciever, and who will very likely sing your praises and thank you for your efforts. Result? No money changes hands, you do the enjoyable - to you - job and avoid the thing you really dislike. Things are finished off and enjoyed , and every one ends up in a good state of mind, and not throwing the garments or the cake in the bin!! I also did this on a larger scale with a group I was with. What we did is had little gold stars stuck on like a loyalt card idea. Every time you did something you would be paid 1 or more stars, which you collected. Then you need those wretched curtains cutting and the hem taken up. So look down the list where we put our skills on offer. find the sewing person and pay with your gold stars and hey presto , job done satisfactorily and at no money costs to you. this way you do not have to swap directly with someone to g et your job done. If you take up this idea and use it please pay me for the idea!! I would like you to put 50pence or £1 in the RNLI tin, or the Air Ambulance or cancer research tin. Hope this idea can spread and spread, like a stone thrown into the water. Oh and another little bit of fun is when someone sees the lovely aran sweater your child is wearing and asks "Is that home made?" and yo reply Yes of course. Well it has been home made - but not by you of course , but they dont need to know that!! Start making up your lists now !!

Thanks retread for the reminder of why we knit and crochet.
I shall share it with my yarn group.

We are such a mixed group - some real top league knitters, lace makers, spinners and embroiderers as well as people like me who go for the craic and to get help when i drop stitches.

Some knit for charity. Fishermen, refugees and prem babies need hats.
John Lewis takes the offerings sometimes.

What great jumpers! (My DH would love one: sadly, I'm not that good (or patient) a knitter.) I'm impressed by the range of skills shown on Gransnet, by so many GNs.
