Thread tangling at start of seams - but I have an auto-thread cutter so should this happen?

The thread bunnies look like a good idea - I'll have a go this afternoon! It looks as though it will work without me having to give up my new automatic thread cutter habit!

I always use a thread bunny, no more tangles.

I don’t bother with the thread cutter, I just pull out and hold the threads before starting a seam and very rarely use it when ending a seam.

That is genius! You don’t get this “snarl-up” when you are chain piecing.

I havn't been able to solve this anyway except in the way you describe of pulling the threads to the back, which is a nuisance. Mainly I just put up with the thread tangle unless it is top stitching which will show. Swings and roundabouts I guess.

I don’t have one so can’t help, but have you Googled the problem?
If you type in the problem and the make of your sewing machine maybe others either have the same problem or have a solution.

I treated myself to a sewing machine with an automatic thread-cutter and I love it. The downside is that there are no long thread-tails to hold onto at the start of a seam and even though I always start a little way in from the edge and sew slowly, I often get that little tangle of thread under the fabric.

Has anyone else found a way to prevent this, apart from pulling out the thread from the bobbin and needle every time (which defeats the purpose of the thread-cutter)?
