I agree with Twiggy a fringe is great because it hides the wrinkles on your forehead! smile

I have deep lines either side of my mouth, that I hate and I have never smoked.

I was told that early menopause cause the deep lines but who knows what causes them

I can get rid of them when I am willing to make the effort--I buy Garnier firming cream, it really does work for me and I can see the difference in a week, -- have taken before and after pics

Is it flippant to say that ageing is a h*ll of a lot better than the alternative?

Ana Wed 22-Jan-14 18:37:46

We might as well make the most of whatever we've got left while we still can though - what's wrong with that?

Kiora Wed 22-Jan-14 18:55:32

No Soutra it's not flippant I say it all the time. I think I'm trying to cheer myself up! wink

Ana Wed 22-Jan-14 18:56:56

Well, we can all make the best of ourselves (if we want to) while appreciating the fact that we aren't dead yet...hmm

Soutra Wed 22-Jan-14 19:07:05

Can't really argue with that ana I just feel there are more important things in life than the odd (and some of mine are very odd ) wrinkle. They are the reflection of our life's experiences and an smiling "old" face is to me something to rejoice in.
Compare:
Joan Rivers and Judi Dench
Joan Collins and e.g. the Queen

And I think you might get my point!

Ana Wed 22-Jan-14 19:12:41

No one's advocating plastic surgery though, are they? We're just sharing the odd tip about moisturisers etc - a bit of a difference!

Choose your parents!!

Drink plenty of water and practise yoga. Works for me anyway smile

Any tips for surplus skin? My face is getting saggier by the day.

Aka Thu 23-Jan-14 07:47:19

Stand on your head? hmm

Nelliemoser Thu 23-Jan-14 08:33:30

* soutra* spot on! Joan Collins might be wrinkle free but she does not look young. She looks just like a face lifted botoxed older woman.

Flowerofthewest Thu 23-Jan-14 09:27:21

Have said before, huff on the mirror it takes 10 years off.

NfkDumpling Thu 23-Jan-14 11:15:32

grin Aka. Have a happy birthday!

Penstemmon Thu 23-Jan-14 11:49:20

Be happy and smile a lot! That takes years off people.

I had some WI women at my house yesterday and my daughter happened to pop in. She and the oldest lady ( 80s) got on like a house on fire as her attitude was young as opposed to some younger women who take a sharp intake of breath at the far too many modern things ... like the internet and emails!

Soutra Wed 19-Feb-14 09:29:14

annsixty is right - my mother always had very good skin and I seem to have inherited it, helped by not smoking. Too lazy to look after it properly or drink loads of water, but I've got away with it so far!
