.... Western world who hasn't yet started her Xmas shopping? tchsmile

I feel such a failure! tchgrin

Ana Sat 14-Dec-13 22:24:02

Probably. We had a Netto but it was supplanted by an Asda, which must say something about my local demographic! tchgrin

Yes, Ana it was just some of the frozen food, but it got 5/5 marks!

Ana Sat 14-Dec-13 22:34:47

Hope prawns were included then! tchwink

According to an article in the DT earlier in the week, the Iceland Christmas cake thrashed Fortnum & Masons effort by a mile in a blind taste test!

The writer also said that the decorations on the F&M were not up to much.

Finally started .... now I'm like a greyhound out of the trap!

Most pressies ordered online yesterday - they'll be ready for collection today from Peter Jones, where I'll have them gift-wrapped.

Have chosen a tree and that will be delivered this morning tchsmile

I'm not really a slacker as did the Ocado order weeks ago tchwink

Christmas ...... bring it on! wine

I get annoyed with myself for starting too early. I seem to get caught up in it somehow. MY DD has her presents bought and wrapped by the end of September and I start to panic! Not that I start in September, but around the end of November and then I think 'what are you doing woman?' tchconfused

jinglbellrocks Sun 15-Dec-13 15:47:26

I'll second that Riverwalk! tchgrin

I am still wrapping. And I had to carefully undo one the other day as I couldn't for the life of me remember what was inside it. tchhmm

When I first had a freezer 40 years ago I did all my freezer shopping in bejam, as Iceland was then called but then it moved more and more into frozen ready meals and ready food and I stopped using it. Where I live now I think the nearest branch of Iceland is about 20 miles away.

We used to do a family Xmas Iceland shop. When my girls were little. On a Thursday evening. (memories eh?!) smile

jinglbellrocks Sun 15-Dec-13 16:29:43

They used to do frozen sticks of cream.

Nonu Sun 15-Dec-13 16:32:52

As I remarked yesterday , Malcolm will be everso pleased that G/N are talking about ICELAND !
laugh

Riverwalk Sun 15-Dec-13 16:45:24

Nonu is Malcolm your hubby? tchsmile

Riverwalk Sun 15-Dec-13 16:46:46

I've never been to Iceland .... the shop or country ... would like the latter!

Elegran Sun 15-Dec-13 16:49:48

DS worked there for a year. He sent photographs of the view from up a mountain. A Land Rover in the valley below was almost invisible, it looked so small.

He said the Icelanders were completely mad. The berserker spirit is still alive and well there.

Nonu Sun 15-Dec-13 16:50:59

No it is Malcolm Walker the boss of Iceland stores .
Did you not see the programmes on him a while back ? He is a great character !
tchgrin

I'm not normally a fan of brinksmanship, except in extenuating circumstances Riverwalk, but on this occasion I have to say 'respect' tchgrin

Ana Sun 15-Dec-13 17:05:39

Well, I've never been to Sainsbury's - is that the opposite of brinksmanship? tchgrin

Aka Sun 15-Dec-13 17:27:58

Ana I'm harking back to the OP tchconfused

Ana Sun 15-Dec-13 17:29:43

Oh, sorry, I just looked at Riverwalk's last post and assumed....tchblush

Aka Sun 15-Dec-13 17:31:20

I thought the discussion had taken a very frivolous turn Ana and sought to return it to a more sober path tchwink

Riverwalk Sun 15-Dec-13 17:34:30

No Nonu I've never heard of Mr Iceland!

Aka thanks to Peter Jones and M&S, I'm back from the brink!

Ana surely not, everyone has been to Sainsburys tchshock

(Where do you live? tchhmm )

harrigran Sun 15-Dec-13 18:02:17

I only started my Christmas shopping last night, I am praying Amazon will get it to me in time, as long as GC are not disappointed I don't care.

Ana Sun 15-Dec-13 18:05:12

One of the things I've ordered for my GC is supposed to arrive by 24th December....tchshock. Fingers crossed!

FlicketyB Sun 15-Dec-13 18:49:29

I chased up a book I ordered in early November to find it will not now be available until January!!
