Thanks for all your replies they've reassured me. Now how do I stop him going beep, beep, beep!

With two hips and a pinned ankle I send the machine, into hysterics!
I use disabled transport and they just 'wand' me! ( wish the wand was magic and would take eithe 20lbs or 20 years off me. Don't really care which)

I don't have artificial hips but somehow always get picked up to be screened and patted down.

Yes you will set off the scanners Tippy22 I do every time but I always go red with a guilty face blush. Just warn them you have implants and they will ask you to step to one side and usually a lady will hand wand you down and may pat down your hips just to check. They are very used to it.
Have a good holiday.

They are well used to it by now as so many of us have metal inserted around our bodies. Mine is in ankle and knee.

Not hips but I have a titanium pin and screws in my tibia. It's set off the alarms occasionally but all that happens is that they pat you down and maybe use a handheld scanner. It's no big deal. Enjoy your holiday!

Just warn a member of staff before you step through the security area.

I'm going abroad for the first time since having both my hips replaced. My husband says they'll set all the alams off when I go through security. Although he was joking it's got me wondering. Has anybody had experience of this.
