I fancy having a Buddha

For lots of different personal reasons I fancy having a Buddha in the garden, not the one with the fat belly but more the one with the pointy headdress or similar.

Nothing tacky or made of plastic. Any ideas ?

going back to the OP if you want a Buddha then look around first, check out eBay because different ones will speak to you.

The most impressive Buddha i ever saw was in an exhibition over twenty years ago... a massive stature with a sword.......which is a symbol not actually used to chop off heads!!

When I red this thread title in Actives I still want to reply, "For tea?"

πŸ˜€ angels don’t have to seen but they do post here x

TerriBull Wed 26-Jun-19 15:14:38

An angel would be nice.....but would there be room enough for two of us grin I usually potter around unarmed, I think I've got a plastic sword of my grandson's lying around somewhere but somehow I don't think that would be a good look for me blush

With a sword !

Sorry Never seen one Terri , probably because he is an Archangel , I will ask, I am a member of the Raphael Healing Guild. Do you want an angel in your garden πŸ˜€

TerriBull Wed 26-Jun-19 14:14:56

Oh I guess he'll do Annie, now where do I get a statue of him hmm

Anniebach Wed 26-Jun-19 13:36:08

Saint Raphael is the patron saint for the sick and for healing x

TerriBull Wed 26-Jun-19 11:56:03

Yes I agree, a lamb or two would be nice, and a cat would be even better, preferably a real one smile but unfortunately dear St Francis is not the patron saint of asthmatics, is there one? there definitely should be! my relatives could do with such a saint. In the meantime he will have to be content with a bird perched on his shoulder and one in each hand smile

Anniebach Wed 26-Jun-19 09:51:41

Definitely a lamb x

aggie Wed 26-Jun-19 09:47:27

Oh TerriBull I think a statue of a wee lamb would be lovely beside St Francis , stone would be perfect , not a painted one

TerriBull Wed 26-Jun-19 09:43:48

I'd like a Buddha, but I appropriated a garden statue of St Francis that my late mother brought back from Assisi and I've always felt his preference would be for some stone animals to share his space with, but my husband deters me on the grounds they're naff sad

Really Jane , I was told sbout the attacks on Christian churches

Jane10 Tue 25-Jun-19 22:01:16

They do a lot more than that Anniebach! Not just Christians either. Look at the situation in Myanmar.

Anniebach Tue 25-Jun-19 20:01:33

Buddhist monks do incite hatred again Christian churches in Sri Lanka

Jane10 Tue 25-Jun-19 19:48:27

I was very shocked at the very aggressive Buddhist monks in Sri Lanka and in Myanmar. I'd always thought Buddhists were calm peace loving people.
Us humans. We just look for something to fight about πŸ™

.. Buddhism isn't a religion..it's a way of life.. enlightenment, goodness
I have five Buddha's including one in the garden,I keep two books on Buddhism on my kitchen worktops..
I also pray most nights to Our Lady..
Me... Buddhist in my aspirations.. Catholic in my complications....

Gonegirl Tue 25-Jun-19 16:25:54

Yes Ww. That's right. They do now. At the time they crucified him for allowing himself to be called "King of the Jews".

I think it suggests why most religions are slightly warped and have a need to see off threatening groups.

So much for all the humans prepared to follow gods of 'love' eh?

(No offence intended. I have two dear friends deeply involved with the church who are remarkable, altruistic, selfless human beings.)

Gonegirl Tue 25-Jun-19 16:23:51

I guess they are all humans. No angels in this world, no matter what their particular brand of religion.
