How much time do you spend on your IPad ?

I think I spend too much time on my IPad. Each morning I check the news, see if I have any emails, check out the tennis on TennisTV, look at the weather, then contribute to GN.

In the late afternoon/evening I fit in an episode of Line of Duty as well. No wonder I am behind with my paperwork and of course I like socialising as well. The word self indulgent comes to mind ?

Sadly I don’t read books as much as I did and have decided that needs to change.

Lately have become ‘hooked’ on word puzzles available on my iPad. so as well as checking emails and Facebook I am spending more time than usual playing them. My excuse is that I am using my brain to do these puzzles.I even did them through ‘Line of Duty’ last Sunday,so now I need to watch it again before tomorrow evening. !

Quite shocked when my iPad informed me that I have averaged 8 hours a day on it shock

Like NanKate, I don’t read books as much as I used to. I need to go back to that.

Trouble is, every time the iPad ‘pings’, I have to check it and can then waste a lot of time faffing about on it.

I don’t play any games, but I am on the iPad almost all day. I am stuck in the house most of the time, and it’s my window in the world. So much information, news, opinions, discussion. If you want to, you can read the works of Shakespeare, learn a language, look at works of art from all ages and all round the world. You can talk to friends and family, look at photos, read the latest gossip (bearing in mind that it may or may not be accurate), do your shopping.

In other words, it’s the most amazing resource and no-one should be ashamed of spending time on it.

It depends. I spend about half-an-hour on Gransnet, daily, and check my e-mails/ write e-mails.

Check my bank account and pay bills once or twice a month.

Write letters to friends every month and during the winter months write articles too.

Play patience, perhaps an hour a day, sometimes mah jong instead,

I've never timed all this, but suspect it varies from six hours to about ten a week.

We watch the news online too, but don't use Facebook.´, but do use the Internet for looking things up, finding recipes, buying stuff, checking train times etc.

I don't have an ipod/pad but I do go on my laptop perhaps twice or three times a day. It's addictive as I spend maybe a couple of hours at least when I should be doing other things.
I used to play Patience on it but then I (reluctantly) got the new laptop and I 'lost' it and haven't got it back which it probably just as well.

I use my iPad and Smartphone a lot but not half as much as DH. He’s on his from early morning until bedtime. No conversation and very often doesn’t hear me if I say or ask anything. I’ve told him he’s married to it, not to me! Have tried explaining it becomes lonely but to no avail. I knit, sew, read, and am trying out encaustic art to fill the time. I do enjoy tracing my family tree on Ancestry though.

Quite a lot! ?
Play loads of games on it, keeps the old mind sharp....my excuse.
Look in now and then on GN also on other fora.
Catch up with emails, read the news items, check the weather, order goods.

I definitely spend too much time on my iPad but I’m really into my reading at the moment. I always use it to watch something on catch up or Netflix whilst I do my ironing too.
It’s always a shock when the daily total pops up - wish I could turn it off. ?

Once a day maybe.unless there is something I need to look up.but maybe an hour. No more.

I don't have or want an ipad but I spend far too long on a daily basis my laptop. However, I do also still work p/t, see and help family, go out socialising, spend time gardening or doing DIY and I read a lot. My television consumption had gone down an awful lot and I certainly don't sleep as much as I should but I always say, 'I'll get all the sleep I need when I'm in my coffin!'

Far too much.

I have a iMAC desktop, an Ipad and an Iphone. If I have nothing better to do I play games, read GN, do banking, ordering wine, food, clothes, chat to the GC and DS, look things up, chat to friends and relations all over the world and read books. In fact I use them for most things and do not feel guilty. They have opened the world up.
If anyone rings and to go for a walk or coffee, however, they are all turned off!

Often play a game while watching tv, use it for online banking for both myself and daughter. Sometimes read the papers and help my Cambodian and Laos friends with their english studies. Its usually a bit in the morning whilst having breakfast and then about now while my husband locks up and faffs around in the bathroom.

Relieved I'm not alone. Like many others my book reading habit has slipped in recent years. I'm addressing that a little but there's room for improvement.
My laptop is out of action but with my Samsung tablet and mobile it's not missed except when typing emails.
The net is both the thief of time and brilliant at the same time and I wouldn't be without it

I wake earlier than the DH so I get an hour or so on the iPad before he wakes. I have the laptop on on the kitchen table all day to look at, check emails and consult sporadically and then I use the iPad for an hour in the evening. However, I fit is masses of other things including a lot of reading of actual books. I would say it is an addition to my life and not a substitute for it.

Lovetopaint037 Mon 22-Apr-19 10:19:37

Too long. I use it to wake myself up in the mornings. I look at news items. Then emails some relating to Facebook posts, then there is Gransnet, mumsnet etc. Then there are all the things I want to investigate so there is Google. I’m addicted but have discovered best to read a book at night.
