I have an aga, what are the electric agas like? Are they at good? Any noticeable differences to the oil fired ones?

I loved my aga too. I do miss it, you can cook absolutely everything on or in it, you don't need anything else.

How I miss the 4 oven Aga that my parents had in their last house!

Loved cooking on it when I stayed there.

Same, ours is oil fired, and we always leave the lids down.

Out of curiosity, we have been thinking of changing to an electric Aga, because we don’t have gas in our village, and I wondered how you are getting on with it Summerfly?

The lids down otherwise it will draw heat from the oven.

If you keep the lid down you are conserving heat, with it up it will cool.

Have had a traditional solid fuel Aga and always left the lids down.

I don't know about electric agas, but I lived in a house with an oil fired aga and always kept the lids down when it was heating up after being relit.
I hope you find an answer.

Hi. Can anyone with an aga tell me if it’s ok to leave the lids down whilst heating up the hot plates? Any help would be gratefully received.
