We'd love to put together a page of Gransnet Classics - the threads that still make you smile when you think back on them, were just simply ridiculous, moved you in some way or that simply sum up what it is to be on Gransnet. They can be old or recent, long or short, but it would be great to find out which ones you loved best.

A link would be great but if you don't have it a description of the conversation should be fine and we'll see if we can find it. grin

I used to rely to match up my pegs then I bought old-fashioned wooden ones.

However, they have to be equal in size.

Callistemon Sun 09-Feb-20 22:17:16

annep I should have left it at that instead of trying to tackle some sewing which went wrong!!

Charleygirl5 Sun 09-Feb-20 22:11:32

I confess to also matching up pegs- I would never leave pegs on line either.

DanniRae Sun 09-Feb-20 20:35:39

annepl - I've obviously got too much time on my hands, eh?
However, I never leave the pegs on the line shock

annep1 Sun 09-Feb-20 19:34:04

Callistemon your last post made me laugh out loud just now.

DanniRae I can't believe you match up your pegs. (Off topic and sorry to be boring but I've noticed most of my neighbours leave their pegs on the line. )

Charleygirl5 Sun 09-Feb-20 11:23:18

phoenix I know it happened a few years ago but it still seems like yesterday. I also believe in Karma for that nasty cow. The lengths she went to get you sacked were unbelievable.

Callistemon Sun 09-Feb-20 10:13:22

BradfordLass I've done nothing much at all today so far apart from wiping around under the rim of a toilet and for that I blame phoenix grin

However, I have a list of things to do which I keep putting off.

Callistemon Sun 09-Feb-20 10:11:06

DanniRae grin

Sorry for being negative but I think the most mundane thread I ever got involved with was discussing how you hung your washing out. Did you match up the pegs? (I didn't, but have done ever since............drat it!!!) How did you hang up your knickers, your shirts etc. But happily I have to say that at least all the posts were cheerful and no one got stroppy - so I guess that says something about people who get involved in such threads smile

BradfordLass73 Sun 09-Feb-20 03:19:10

I loved (and not because I started the thread) the one where everyone said what they'd done that day.

I could imagine people walking dogs, going to the shops, cleaning the house for their son and much more.

What so many people felt was mundane, I loved and found interesting.

BlueSky Sat 08-Feb-20 22:45:56

Phoenix the karma option definitely! Or as that someone said:' The more I know people, the more I like dogs!'

phoenix Sat 08-Feb-20 22:09:21

Bluesky perhaps I was indiscreet, I know I posted the name of the place where I was working, (proud and happy to be working there) and my boss's name was on the website, the letter was sent "To only be opened by (boss's name)"

The sender didn't use my real name, probably didn't know it, as indeed most people (apart from a few) do, however they didn't need to know who I was in order to do their nasty stuff!

What do you think they might have got out of it, copying that post, printing it off, then putting it in an envelope, attaching stamps (about £2 worth,if I remember correctly) and sending it?

Part of me feels sorry for them, but another part hopes for karma, i.e. "What goes around, comes around!" ( Or whichever way it is confused)

BlueSky Sat 08-Feb-20 20:19:42

Phoenix how did that person know who you were in real life so to speak?

phoenix Sat 08-Feb-20 20:02:31

Fennel am flattered that you were going to mention some of my "ramblings"!

To you and annep1 I will admit to bring shaken to the core by that event, no matter how much I might dislike someone, I cannot imagine taking actions that could result in them losing their job, especially when I had posted about the trials and tribulations of my search for employment.

I did receive a few pm's from members who thought that they knew who it might have been, but what would have been the point in trying to do anything about it?

Much rather stick to starting threads on my usual inane, daft stuff, with the odd post on other threads, although the Archers has got me going lately!

Callistemon Sat 08-Feb-20 19:47:04

speechless

Please, no!!

Fennel Sat 08-Feb-20 19:42:34

"Hard to believe someone could be so nasty!"
I agree.
phoenix - I was going to mention some of your threads too.
You have a great gift for starting something interesting, without being nasty

annep1 Sat 08-Feb-20 19:03:03

Hard to believe someone could be so nasty!

phoenix Sat 08-Feb-20 18:18:39

And also blush

TBH, some of the things I most enjoyed writing were the cat posts, especially about my dear departed Digby.

phoenix Sat 08-Feb-20 18:16:25

grin

Jessity Sat 08-Feb-20 17:45:58

phoenix we can’t have you speechless! I’d offer to retract it, but I meant it ?. You did have me scurrying off to see what on earth I’d said though. I’ll be booted off GN if I silence a favourite ?

phoenix Sat 08-Feb-20 16:50:00

Jessity your post of 7/02, 19.55 left me shock speechless, and that takes some doing!

phoenix Sat 08-Feb-20 16:32:26

That's correct, seacliff it was brought about by a particularly nasty event.

For those that don't know, after being made redundant, and a period of awful jobs and unemployment, I finally found a job that really suited me.

I posted something that I shouldn't have, expressing a concern for my boss.

Someone (obviously a GN member) saw fit to print it off and send it in the post to him.

I can only think that their motive was to try and get me sacked. Nice. sad

BlueSky Sat 08-Feb-20 11:52:07

I should have said 'the' Chat one!

BlueSky Sat 08-Feb-20 11:50:37

And which is your favourite forum? I used to be exclusively on the Health one but I try not to go there too often as I have health anxiety and I can become quite obsessed. I do like this Chat one! brew

seacliff Sat 08-Feb-20 11:46:10

Lilypops - Phoenix had a temporary change of name some years ago, to Anne58, and posted that thread under Anne58. But everyone still knew her as Phoenix.
