I enjoy gransnet as a new member, but was wondering how old you all are. I became a gran for the first time at 59 (kids were late starters!) I wouldn't have been bothered with what family call my old lady forum then but now at 74 have more time on my hands and find it interesting.

What made you join

Had my first child at 33, daughter and daughter-in-law both waited until they were in their 30's so did not become a grandmother until I was 67. Had 4 grandchidren in 3 1/2 years! Hectic at times but great fun.

My first GC when I was 51, next at 53 and last one at 66, 1st 2 live in Denmark so goodness knows when we’ll see them again. Should have been going on 18th but obviously that’s off. Little one is 6 and miss her so much as saw her all the time. I’ll be 73 in May, be a tad quiet this year!

Joined GN about 18 months ago when googling for tips on a good magazine for older women. One GD aged three. FaceTime is lovely but I miss the smell of her!

I am 80, going on 35, and lucky enough to be very healthy.
I have a GD who will be 21 this month. No celebration! A GS who was 18 last month in Australia. Also no celebration! I also have a 3 year old GD over there, and a new baby GS due next month - my planned visit to my three children, and for the birth, sadly cancelled.
It’s a pity that I can’t be there for the new baby, and hope that I will still be fit enough to fly over when all this madness is over. My main hope is, obviously, that they all stay healthy.
Best wishes to all you Grans, and non-Grans. Stay well!

I'm 59 and became a nan at 49. I've 3 grandchildren now and love this grandma job. ?. I've been on here a while but read things everyday more than post things.

I am 71.Love the site as there is always something of interest being discussed.
I do not have any grandchildren as my son's wife is unable to have children due to medical reasons and did not wish to adopt.
A tinge of loneliness sometimes but I soldier on.
Keep well everyone.

Nannymarg53 Fri 03-Apr-20 11:52:51

I’m 67. First GD at 60 and 2nd (GS) at 63. I joined a few years ago because I wasn’t feeling that DNA pull with them and I was curious to see if anyone else on here felt the same and some did which was a relief. I love them now but it took a long time. But it still doesn’t touch what I feel for my 3 sons. I don’t think anything will.

I am 69 and was hoping to have a special 70th year. Well! It certainly one to remember.
I am a sort of step gran and my partner , of 26 years, and I neve4 married. He has 3 sons, one of whom has 2 daughters, 4 years and 5 months. The other boys are in relationships, one hopefully getting married on 1st August. My daughter is nit married. She is 39 and had a partner if 13 years who cheated on her. She did try adoption but unfortunately that did not work. Hence she is concentrating on her career.
I fell fortunate to be fairly fit, healthy, positive and have good friends.
I wanted to connect with other ladies and enjoy good discussion x

I used to work with a lady called Sue Lindsey many years ago. I joined from mn as I needed advice when both my children left home and I felt a bit empty nestish.
