I'm tee total but with everything that I'm seeing and reading in the news now, I'm thinking that October might be a very good month for me to start having a few ????????. In fact, I think giving up anything that provides any escapism from the current situation is to be robustly avoided. Cheers,
Yes, same here, Monica. We did have a bottle of wine over three nights last weekend. I was struggling to remember why, but I’ve just recalled it was because it was my birthday.
It is not people who have a problem who do these months, just people who feel they would benefit by drinking a bit less and these communal events make it fun.
I am another like SueDonim, I don't drink much anyway and also I tend to drink in fits and starts, nothing for 5 weeks but then go away for a few days and have two drinks a day while I am away. Having been away most of last week and with an empty diary for this month, I will probably not drink anything anyway.
I don’t drink much anyway so it seems fairly pointless for me.
When I have eschewed any alcohol at all, eg for months after I had an accident, I felt no different from when I did have a drink, nor did I lose any weight, which was quite annoying!
As somebody said.... Stuff sober October, I’m on a bender till December.
Haha?
Since September and this next week in October I have been living on antibiotics for various things, then I shall look forward to a few G&T’s later on.Cheers?
I drink so little it really does not affect me. I never touch spirits and I drink a maximum of two bottles of wine every 6 weeks or so. Not exactly queueing up for the AA.
I have done dry January as part of new year resolutions to get fitter and slimmer, several times.
As for sober October no flipping way, I am restricted regarding seeing family and friends, cannot safely leave the Country and could be looking at another lockdown I’ll have a glass of chilled dry white, thank you.
I so dry January and for the last couple of years have done 100 days from 1st jan. A close friend mentioned she was doing stoptober and I thought oh I should do that. But I tend to agree with your friend. I think it makes you think about alcohol.
Well, I’ve not had any wine or a G&T yet. So I can decide tomorrow!
What put me off (I’ve done ‘dry’ January before and once gave up alcohol for Lent - 48 days!) is someone once said it’s the people with a ‘problem’ who embrace this nonsense as moderate drinkers know they don’t need to do it anyway as they are more sensible.
