AIBU I cannot believe this. The royal train costs a fortune. The only good this will do is bolster the RF. The number of folk in dire straits is unbelievable-how on earth will a visit from this pampered pair help I wonder?

I love this photo taken yesterday in Berwick.

Anniebach Tue 08-Dec-20 18:40:36

So sweet , am sure those little ones enjoyed themselves

PollyDolly Tue 08-Dec-20 18:46:41

Much easier to socially distance from the escorting entourage on a train than in a private jet or limousine!

Calendargirl Tue 08-Dec-20 18:53:14

Going off thread, but was anyone watching Pointless today?
One of the rounds was about the Duchess of Sussex.

I hope Meghan hadn’t tuned in because both couples knowledge of her was zilch, they both scored 100.

(My knowledge was pretty good, I knew all the answers, Meg would have been chuffed I hope)

Lucca Tue 08-Dec-20 19:02:47

Wondered how long it would be!

I agree with Lemongrove, after all they are working Royals and as I understand the rules you can go to work.

SueDonim Tue 08-Dec-20 19:12:05

Wow, the bile and name-calling on this thread, when I got deleted for referring to Scotland’s First Minister by a well-kent moniker that you can read all over the media. hmm One set of rules for saints, another set of rules for sinners, it seems.

So wrong, the shadow health minister is one person , he does
not speak for the Welsh population.

Fact - the couple had a warm welcome, they didn’t walk around Cardiff, they visited Cardiff university and talked to
students about mental health issues in the young, admission to
the grounds was limited and many couldn’t get in.

One swallow doesn’t make a summer and one politician does
not speak for a a nation .

GrannyGravy13 Tue 08-Dec-20 21:01:48

So true Anniebach

Anniebach Tue 08-Dec-20 21:09:56

My youngest granddaughter is a student at Cardiff university,
she is studying criminal psychology , some of her friends studying the same spoke to William and Kate about mental
health

merlotgran Tue 08-Dec-20 21:10:23

They're doing what royals are expected to do, even in difficult circumstances and would have been heavily criticised if they'd sat at home doing nothing more than a video chat.

I'm sure the people who turned out in cold weather appreciated the gesture.

Callistemon Tue 08-Dec-20 21:11:27

Was it Vaughan Gething? He's miffed because I don't think he was consulted, although apparently it was all arranged with the Welsh Government.
Anyway, he has too much else to worry about, worryingly cases of COVID are rising in Wales, unlike elsewhere in the UK.
They were there to talk to university students, not meet Welsh ministers.

Anniebach Tue 08-Dec-20 21:14:42

Yes Callistemon it was arranged by the Welsh Government,
Gething needs to concern himself with the health of the people of Wales.

Callistemon Tue 08-Dec-20 21:16:41

I think someone forgot to tell Vaughan, he who was breaking the rules at the start of lockdown.

grannyrebel7 Tue 08-Dec-20 21:35:00

Me too! I take Grany is not smile which is a bit of an understatement!

Nadateturbe Tue 08-Dec-20 21:51:20

Calendargirl You beat me to it. yes I saw Pointless too. I thought it was so funny. I was having dinner and I almost spluttered when one couple said they only possibly knew one answer - Meghan's mum was called Gloria. And the other couple didn't know the baby was called Archie. It was one of the rare times when neither couple scored a point.
I'm not a monarchist and I knew all the answers.
Obviously the nation isn't as obsessed with royalty as some people think.

Anniebach Tue 08-Dec-20 22:02:31

Callistemon. Welsh royalty was there - the one and only
Max Boyce .

Callistemon Tue 08-Dec-20 22:07:12

grin
Haven't heard anything of him for years grin

Callistemon Tue 08-Dec-20 22:08:44

Obviously the nation isn't as obsessed with royalty as some people think.
It was quite funny - but one couple did get Archie's second name which I'd forgotten.

merlotgran Tue 08-Dec-20 22:11:04

We thought it was funny as well. I didn't know the wedding dress designer.

Callistemon Tue 08-Dec-20 22:18:56

I did know Doria.
And Frogmore
And Archie

I must be a loyal royalist grin
Or just read gossip.

as far as I can see Wales wasn't thrilled to see them either
Obviously you can't see that far. grin

It was only Vaughan Gething objecting; he is not at all popular and needs to concentrate on doing his job better.
