How many pairs of knickers do you own? Without looking, have a guess....

Had an on line conversation with a friend yesterday. She had just cleaned out her underwear draw. I did mine at the start of first lock down and had clear out.
I knew I still had quite a few pairs - assumed about 20. Just counted them and, including the pair I’m wearing and two in the washing, I have 70 pairs.
Yes, 70.
Funny thing is, I have my favorites so tend to consistently wear the same half a dozen!

Thank you for your replies and being in the spirit of the question.
I’ve now given myself a “ knicker challenge” whereby, for the next 10 days, I have to wear a pair I would normally have avoided, then throw them away.
Bet you wish your life was exciting as mine.

I wear M&S no VPL I have 30 pairs in different shades white ,flesh peach , black, but after a few washes the white knickers go grey , so they get thrown out , which is a shame as there us usually a lot more wear in them , but I cannot bear grey undies, Unless of course I bought them as grey ,

I would say at least 100 and not one of them from M&S.

At a guess, - 30 ish,. I'm gradually changing to Sloggi but they are expensive so it will take time.

2 x black, 2 x white, 2 multi and 2 for decreasing bulge for special dresses.

I’m going to have to go and check in minute. I’m guessing about 25. I like my bra and knickers to match so some that I bought with the bras, some black - usually high leg, some neutral for summer and light clothes and a few rogue pairs that came in a reduced pack. All M and S!

sf101 Sat 23-Jan-21 10:49:46

I would guess at 70 to 80 pairs of nix. All M & S full briefs in multi colours, rotated in 3 piles so all get a turn to be worn. Once the material starts to get a bit rough out they go.

Loads of them which eventually end up as cleaning cloths as cotton.

Lucca, I've been anything but a knickers "swot" for most of my adult life. (In my teenage years, my DM despaired of me ever keeping any clothes remotely tidy.)
It wasn't until I was in my late 60s that my knicker drawer was sorted out properly. A couple of years ago I watched Marie Kondo (online and on Netflix) and I decided to sort out my drawers! (Also sorted DH's underpants drawer - "boxers" - at the same time.) A revelation!

I have 10 pairs. 3 flesh coloured,3 white and 4 dark/multi coloured. They are fairly new as I threw out the tatty load I had previously and bought this lot in September. I've thrown out loads of socks/tights too.

Lost count since I gave up buying matching Gossard bra and pants. Now its M&S white cotton that can go in the washing machine

Gwenisgreat1 Sat 23-Jan-21 11:24:49

I estimate 30 -40 pairs, quite varied in colours although predominantly white - should do a clear out, 'cause some are more comfortable than others.

Buffybee Sat 23-Jan-21 11:33:22

I probably have about 15 pairs: white, black, flesh colour.
Always folded in their colours, I couldn't bear a jumbled knickers drawer.

DanniRae Sat 23-Jan-21 12:59:46

I rolled up all my knickers in the drawer a while ago but tired of the effort so now I just sling the clean ones on top. However this thread has shamed me so I am about to go upstairs and roll them up again and count them at the same time..........I will be back!! (I have already guessed at 30 pairs)

felice Sat 23-Jan-21 13:16:16

Just counted 63, mostly C&A, when I got stuck in Hospital for 5 weeks after my first knee replacement I went a bit mad on the knicker buying when I was set free.
When my DD does my washing for me I have noticed that more go upstairs than come down as she chucks out the worn out ones.

Can’t believe so many people have replied to this thread.
Discussing your knickers with a complete stranger on the internet - jeez.

Witzend Sat 23-Jan-21 13:34:13

Goodness, maybe about 20, virtually all of them M&S.

I was only saying to dh the other day that I wished they’d wear out a bit faster - I’ve had some of them for ever - so that I’d feel fully entitled to chuck them and buy some nice new ones.

Of course he said to go and buy some new ones anyway, but (some) old frugal habits die hard. And it’s not as if he’d ever notice or care anyway. I used to say that he wouldn’t notice if I went out topless with my nipples painted green - might be a slight exaggeration ? but you get the picture.

I did bin one pair that was noticeably ‘going home’ the other day, but it’s a rare event.

Aldom Sat 23-Jan-21 13:37:14

Kandinsky I second that!

lemsip Sat 23-Jan-21 13:39:11

well if we don't respond people may think we don't have any knickers.........lol
my current total is 18 by the way.

DanniRae Sat 23-Jan-21 13:45:03

I have now counted my knickers and I have 40 pairs - and now all rolled up neatly. I also had a trip down memory lane as I keep a lot of my sentimental stuff in the same drawer. Just reread the poem my son wrote to his bride on their wedding day- it was read out as part of the service but we didn't find out he had written it till some time after. It has such amazing words! Also something he wrote to me on the same occasion ......... Such a lovely, happy memories smile

Vickysponge Sat 23-Jan-21 14:46:39

Aldom

Kandinsky I second that!

I third it!!!!

Davida1968 Sat 23-Jan-21 15:14:38

Good grief, Kandinsky and other GNs - lighten up! It's just a bit of fun! And heaven knows that we could all (mostly) appreciate a bit of fun at the moment. I applaud Stoker 48 for a cheery and "fun" thread.

Stoker48 Sat 23-Jan-21 17:03:42

Thank you, David1968.
I hope they haven’t got their knickers in a twist.....

Blossoming Sat 23-Jan-21 17:07:48

Probably about 100. Different colours to match bras, no VPL for under trousers and some dresses, high waist for yoga, etc etc.
