Apart from the obvious like chocolate, cake and crisps are there any foods you still eat which you don't tell your friends about? Only my Best friend knows that I eat Pop Tarts, Findus Crispy Pancakes and Super Noodles. I don't eat them every day but they are my guilty secret. ?

Missadventure Thank you for that. As soon as we can travel again....

RulaNula do you know you can make a very acceptable rip off with just a microwave, a straight sided mug and a toaster? Beat an egg in the lightly greased mug, splosh of milk, if you want and a little grated cheese (if I'm feeling fancy I use parmesan), seasoning. Microwave the egg while toasting the muffin. No sausage patty, right enough but you could always improvise with a squashed chipolata. It's so very nice!

My virtue halo is glowing. Think I've eaten and enjoyed almost everything listed here. However, it was also on here that someone introduced me to the method of gradually eliminating them from my intake. Didn't think that was possible. Thank you, ladies. Your list has made me realise how little I miss any of them. Oh, I still indulge but less and seldom. Another reason to be grateful that I ever stumbled across this site. Oh yesssss.........

The little green marzipan covered cakes from Ikea.

MissAdventure Thu 18-Feb-21 19:15:56

Iceland have them, I think.
Like most things, they're tiny compared to how they were years ago.
They come in a lot more fancy flavours, though.

Where do you get Findus crispy pancakes?? I haven't seen them in years!! Gosh that brings back memories of family teatimes when the offspring were smaller and (much) younger

Chinese takeaway is my ultimate pleasure ?

seacliff Thu 18-Feb-21 18:25:06

Marmite crisps, or paprika crisps. mmm

MissAdventure Thu 18-Feb-21 18:24:12

It would probably be nice with cheese and potato.
Or not.

Patsy70 Thu 18-Feb-21 18:20:46

MissAdventure more like ?

MissAdventure Thu 18-Feb-21 18:05:43

Oh! That sounds.........

Interesting.

Fish ‘n chips from the shop once a month.

Just noticed sandwich spread mentioned. Donkeys years ago I used to make a flan with sausage meat mixed with sandwich spread shock.

Purpleknight49 Thu 18-Feb-21 17:15:03

I was only thinking today as I sat in car outside a bakery shop, that I could eat a pasty everyday and fish and chips too! I didn’t use to be like this and I don’t eat these things very often as they’re not the healthiest of foods. Since I’ve got older I just seem to love all sorts of pies and crusty white bread. When I was younger I would never have wanted these kinds of foods, I actually craved salads!

MissAdventure Thu 18-Feb-21 16:57:57

Oh, bread pudding!!
My neighbour makes the absolute best. Rich, dark, stodgy.
It gives me appalling heartburn though.

By the time I'd steeled myself to eat some last time, my grandson had eaten the lot!

MissAdventure Thu 18-Feb-21 16:51:04

And poundland, if you enjoy a bargain. smile

JaneJudge Thu 18-Feb-21 14:52:09

you can get it from ocado

merrellina Thu 18-Feb-21 14:46:33

Hi Witzend,
Where do you buy Heinz sandwich spread ? havent seen it for years ?

Greciangirl Thu 18-Feb-21 14:30:03

I wouldn’t mind living with the Chief of food Police.

It’s down to me to provide all meals, the buying of, and the cooking of all food.
To have a meal cooked for me is a rare treat.

Further to my comments about the Weight Watchers consultant, she also recommends Yorkshire Tea Biscuit Tea, she said it tastes like biscuits dunked in tea and would stop us wanting the biscuits.
I did get a pack out of curiosity and it is curiously tasty.

HannahLoisLuke Thu 18-Feb-21 14:15:31

My sinful treat is coffee flavoured chocolate and nobody makes but Thornton’s which I can’t go to since shielding for the last year.
What did make me laugh was the Weight watchers consultant on the pre diabetic zoom group that I have to attend telling us that she loves crisp sandwiches and thrice cooked chips, but its ok if she has the points to spend. I thought to myself, points or not it’s going to send your blood sugar up. Once I can go to my GP for a blood test I might mention that!

MissAdventure Thu 18-Feb-21 14:11:16

Riverwalk

^A super noodle sandwich is nice^

I've just seen crispy pancakes mentioned. I love the cheese ones, made into a sandwich

MissAdventure was it you who once boasted about a meat & potato pie in a sandwich? grin

Not guilty!
I only eat veggie pies (and not in sandwiches) smile

Witzend Thu 18-Feb-21 14:08:16

Occasionally when I get a Pot Noodle (chicken curry flavour) craving, I make my own.

Half a chicken stock cube in about 3/4 pint of water, a good teaspoon of curry powder, bring to boil, sling in one layer or nest of noodles, usually Sharwoods, simmer 5 minutes.
Almost as good as the real thing!

JaneJudge Thu 18-Feb-21 14:04:40

I remember one of my friends from school was a vegetarian but used to eat heinz cream of chicken soup and 'take out the chicken' (I know, wtf) and she also used to eat prawn crackers as they were 'just crisps'

Alioop Thu 18-Feb-21 13:59:38

Twirl bar dipped in tea, just a quick dunk though
Cheese & onion crisps mixed in with salt& vinegar and squashed down a bit.
Squashums, sweets that taste of Drumstick lollies.

Anything with licorice in it. Unfortunately the last lot of licorice toffees I it cost me nearly £1000… A Crown and an expensive filling at the dentist! I am now confining myself to licorice allsorts. This has been one of the best friends I’ve read in GN. Thank you so much everybody.
