Only use Nivea products nowadays. I like the smell, they’re absorbed quickly, cheap and easy to find. I’ve tried countless expensive ranges over the years, and never thought very much of any of them. I did try the Aldi Lacuna range, but didn’t like the smell of them.

Olay firm and lift, about £5. I’ve always used a cleanse, tone and moisturise routine and over the years used clarins. Times now call for something cheaper but do still get clarins for gifts.
Genetics do play a big part as does hydration, not smoking and a good diet.

Garner hot cloth cleanser then Claris Orchid oil at night. I’ve just moved to L’Oreal Rosy Glow from L’Occitane Immortelle
due to GN recommendations.
However, I do think that it’s really down to genes, never smoking and keeping your face out of the sun.

I use Guinot but wash my face with a Moulton Brown cleansing bar and finish with a warm face cloth.

I totally agree withJ52’s last comment but using a good protective moisturiser or foundation can help combat the UV rays.
UVB means burning, UVA = Aging. What price a ‘healthy tan’!

Nivea Light or Nivea Soft, rarely use anything else. For a really good moisturiser after a shower or sometimes at night I use organic, virgin coconut oil. It's marvellous, leaves my skin silky smooth and is anti bacterial so, for instance, it heals wounds, calms inflammation and gets rid of toenail fungus.

somebody asking about covering age spots, which are in fact sun damage, so important to always use min SPF15 face cream/ moisturiser.
you can also get tinted moisturiser with SPF, in various shades which might help cover the sun damage.
superdrug is good, also aldi specials, lidl, boots.
don't waste money on fancy names; blind tests always shew cheapo ones are just as good, often preferred.

I use goats milk soap (natural with nothing added) all over. My skin is wonderful.

Origins - love the texture and smell. Just bought some of the l'Oriel rosy glow to try as recommended on here, but it is VERY pink!

My skin is dry and sensitive, so have been using Simple moisturiser and rejuvenating cream and I'm happy enough with it. It's not expensive at £3 for 125 mls.
I wonder if I didn't use it what would be the difference, but then my skin being very dry might flake away!

I find Nivea Light suits me, and reasonably cheap.

Some thoughts on skincare and a bit of a rant:
1) When it comes to face cream I use vaseline. I am not sure if that helps.
2) I wash my face with dove soap or baby shampoo.
3) I don't exfoliate my skin but I would love to find something that wasn't too harsh. I avoid chemical exfoliant and find the physcial exfoliant to be too harsh.
4) I never wear makeup and so I am not sure if I need to use expensive face cream or face product.
5) I read somewhere that skincare is mostly genetics. So, I am not sure if spending on skincare is worth it for me.
6) Finally, I am finding the older that I am the more frugal I have become with regards to skincare. I also have limited income so I find it hard to justify to spend money on myself.

I don't spend a heap on skin products. I use either L'Oreal Revitalift or Rosy glow , or Marcelle products. Usually try to find a day cream with SPF. No specific night cream, but have tried No 7 which I had a discount on.

Not too bad for wrinkles, but I think my family tends to droop instead of wrinkle! I also take collagen supplements to aid skin and joint health.

I’ve been using Boots No 7 since it was first available. OH did get me Clarins as presents but I, tactfully I hope, told him not to. Protect and Perfect is my current range.

there are a lot of regulations re selling cosmetics, esp re labelling, ingredients etc.
would have to commission an industrial chemist/ public analyst in order to comply.
not really something that can be done on kitchen table.

I'm with B9Exchange. Think fancy creams are a big waste of money. I think there is an Avon one and a Nivea one in my bedroom, but they do not get used. Now I am wondering about trying my hand at body care/face care items and selling them in some small way. As part of that I have been looking at Essential Oils. Someone advised me that she buys pure unscented moisturiser into empty high end jars. Had a couple drops of essential oil of your choosing. Stir it in and 'voila' you are good to go!

Not keen on the thought of being a "girly" either but no doubt it was kindly and inclusively meant.
I've used L'Oréal day & night for donkeys years. Tried others but have always gone back to it. Suits me fine & keeps my facial skin comfortable.

Aldi's Lacura Caviar moisturisers - as good as any and cruelty free.

I’m a complete fan of Nuxe products. I started with the oil and shower gel then splashed out for the face creams. I try and buy them in duty free when I can. The oil with the shimmer is fabulous when you have a tan. I also love the matching perfume and often manage to get a promotion gift set with everything in.

I had childhood eczema, and have always had dry skin ever since.

I found that soap really dried my skin up as a youngster and from the age of 12 my daily face care routine has been freezing cold water, followed by Anne French cleansing milk, and topped off with Astral. It all seems to have done the job of staving off the wrinkles - though sadly I can't say the same for the beginnings of jowls and turkey neck.

My skin may still look old ladyish but it feels wonderful and has a “glow”. And it makes me feel special.

My daughter keeps buying me hugely expensive skin creams, for Christmas and for my birthday, I never use anything, can't believe they would make the slightest long term difference, and who is going to see me in the short term?
