Hi girlies , what skin care products are people using , I do like to splurge sometimes ? what are your go back to products

grandmajet Fri 12-Mar-21 08:41:26

Nivea.
Cleanser/toner. Little pot of original cream to keep in my bag for my lips. Day cream and night cream.
Keeps me beautiful!

I’ve very dry skin, and need a facial oil and lashings of day and night cream. Currently happy with Huile Prodigieuse Or and L’Oréal Rosy Glow. They both have a bit of a tint to them that keeps me from looking too pasty.

If I want to treat myself, I will buy Gatineau Melotogenine. However, my normal face cream is Lacura Caviar from Aldi and it really comes close to the Gatineau one.

I usually stick with Clarins but they have stopped doing my favourite cream so I'm looking for an alternative.

Missfoodlove Fri 12-Mar-21 09:17:12

Like Maggiemaybe I love the Nuxe prodigieuse range.
I use the face cream, hand cream and the oil.
The oil is an all rounder for face hair and body.
Their shower oil is divine.

Shinamae Fri 12-Mar-21 09:44:11

The Ordinary, swear by it, good quality basic products at an excellent price. Worth a Google.....

Nannarose Fri 12-Mar-21 09:45:16

I hope it's OK to post a link to this small UK firm:
merumaya.com/

I began in my teens with my grandmother's home-made moisturiser, and have since used cheap, expensive, 'green', and really, this one is the best! Not cheap, but decent value.

BigBertha1 Fri 12-Mar-21 09:45:20

I was all Clarins but they have stopped doing several of their products so I went back to Liz Earle but their moisturiser smells atrocious (borage and avocado) and I cant bear to use it - £45 down the drain. gong further back now to Clinique.

I seem to change my ‘go to’s’ every now and again but at present they are:

Anne French cleansing milk (lovely and only £3.19 for the retro triangular bottle)
‘Simple’ Eye make up remover (mascara and eyebrow gel only these mask-wearing days!)
‘Ahava* rich face cream - lush.

Remember ladies, night cream needs to be applied an hour before bed otherwise you’ll just wipe it off on your pillowcase.

Garner hot cloth cleanser then Claris Orchid oil at night. I’ve just moved to L’Oreal Rosy Glow from L’Occitane Immortelle
due to GN recommendations.
However, I do think that it’s really down to genes, never smoking and keeping your face out of the sun.

Hetty58 Fri 12-Mar-21 10:32:20

Coconut oil!

Simple moisturiser, sometimes when I’m feeling flush I buy Neal’s Yard Frankincense moisturiser and other times Clinique.

Shinamae Fri 12-Mar-21 10:41:03

This has just popped up as an advert on this thread. ???

Blossoming Fri 12-Mar-21 10:48:52

L’Oreal eye cream, serum and face cream. First thing in the morning and last thing at night. They last ages as you only need to use tiny amounts. To clean my face I massage in a circular motion with a reusable velour face pad soaked in tepid wate. To tone I splash with a little cold water. The whole routine only takes around 5 minutes. I’ve been using the Rosy Glow face creams for over a month and it’s made a noticeable difference.

Thank you

I've just discovered Tropic Skincare. Really like their products but only available through local reps or online.

NonnaW Fri 12-Mar-21 13:26:03

Olay

twinnytwin Fri 12-Mar-21 13:26:15

I swear by Elizabeth Arden Advanced Ceramide Capsules. I buy a year's worth around Christmastime when all the special offers are about and save lots. I've been using Prai serums and creams. I'm not sure they've made any difference so may go back to Boots No 7.

annsixty Fri 12-Mar-21 13:48:15

If only I was a “girlie” and not 50 years beyond being one, I might have tried some of these, finance permitting.
But I’m not so I shan’t.
What an odd name to call Grans.??

Urmstongran Fri 12-Mar-21 13:58:37

Maybe those who used the posh products still look like girlies annsixty. That’s me out then!
☹️

Nanna58 Fri 12-Mar-21 14:05:30

The Ordinary or GOW by Victoria health .

B9exchange Fri 12-Mar-21 14:10:02

My daughter keeps buying me hugely expensive skin creams, for Christmas and for my birthday, I never use anything, can't believe they would make the slightest long term difference, and who is going to see me in the short term? smile
