Please research risks before vaccinating a 14 year old. Myocarditis is a rare but real side effect from pfizer and moderna and there is little risk from covid for this age group. My son was 32 and died from 'rare' cerebral blood clots and thrombocytopenia from his Astrazeneca vaccination. He was fit and healthy but vaccinated early as worked for the NHS.

I am very grateful to have received my vaccine, as is my OH so we’ve donated £1000 to Covax so that others not as fortunate as us in the western world will be vaccinated. I would happily have paid £500 for the peace of mind it’s given me so am more than happy to pass it forward.

My Thai friends mother in Thailand will have to pay £100 if she wants to have the vaccine ! I don’t think she’s had it so far .

I would have gladly contributed.

I cheekily referred to my jabs as "the Aldi one " yes you've guessed it ,it was the Astra zeneca .It at least lightened the situation ! It was the cheapest by far.
No I don't think I should have paid.
As said previously we all pay towards the NHS .

I would but I am very grateful that the NHS means I don't have to. Many people couldn't afford to of they had to.

Yes, I would have paid extra but is was ‘free’ through the Social Security health French which I pay for through the high tax system plus my private backup health insurance.
I am keeping my fingers crossed, ridiculous, that I don’t have the variants that follow.
My children have been double vaccinated and my teenage 13 and 16 olds have their first.
But my younger ones haven’t because we don’t know the consequences.
I can’t thank enough those who have worked for mankind.

There is absolutely no way the Covid jab can be responsible for your Molluscum Contagium and verrucas clearing up. They are caused by totally different viruses. The Covid vaccine will only target Covid-19

The rush to vaccinate children voiced by some people is misguided. Children react differently from adults when given medications and vaccines. Safety must always be the first consideration. My daughter who is a doctor says she will not allow her children to be vaccinated because these vaccinations, particularly Pfizer and Moderna are apparently different than other vaccinations and the possible effects are totally unknown at this stage. Maybe she will change her mind in the future if they are shown to be safe for young children.

Nonetheless for the vast majority of people these vaccinations are life savers.

there have been some lovely things said on this thread, for which i'm grateful. we need some positive thoughts now if we're to move forward towards the kind of world we want to live in now.

thank you pepine, i think this is the way to go. i fear that paying for our vaccinations would be the thin end of the wedge. our nhs is something to be proud of, and i think we should fight to keep it in the wonderful form originally envisaged by aneurin bevan so many years ago.
yet we are a (comparatively) rich nation, and can contribute to the wellbeing of those who cannot afford a vaccine. thanks for the heads up on the best place to send our money (for those who are able.)

the question of supporting any of the nhs charities is a sticky one. there is so much more needed than is funded for through our taxes, it's hard not to feel the charities are the way to go, and genuine acts of charity help the service enormously. but they should never be linked to need.

@Riverwalk. You are right, we have all paid during our working lives through NI and taxes. I would not pay extra. Think of how much the government wastes, The App, HS2, immigration problem ( paying France £150million and they still let boat people leave their shores). I hear they want to cease the triple lock on our pensions too. Plus they gave out Covid loans before checking the claimants were genuine.

@Alegrias1. I agree with you - it is not free, many people began work at 15/16 and worked 50 years paying NI and tax which is how the NHS is funded, by us, so it is paid for. Many on a basic pension have nothing spare, not even to replace items indoors when they break down. We live in a 2 tier society

I would have given a donation if there had been something put out to collect it in, on the day.
Saying that, I probably spent a fortune on the phone, trying to get booked in.
