What do you think of the Queen’s new statue?

With both an artist son & dil and watching Fake or Fortune, I feel like a right art connoisseur ?

Wednesday is art night here. Portrait of Artist of the year, landscape artist of the year and Fake or Fortune.

We love fake or Fortune and try to guess which one. We were completely wrong this week!!

Well I guess it's better than the one they had done of Diana. I agree with previous commenters, you can tell it's the Queen but it is very harsh looking. I always think how 'soft and squigy' her Maj looks for a women in her 90's. It might have been better as an informal pose but it's obviously what the Minster wants.

I like it and when it is finished will look wonderful on The Minster.

That's what I thought too. No character, no personality. In fact, if there had not been a crown on her head, I wouldn't have recognised the statue as of the Queen.

It’s absolutely dreadful. Our Queen is a very attractive lady, particularly for one in her mid-90s, and none of her personality is evident in this monstrosity.

If they want trees, I can provide some tiny oak trees - they are springing up all over the garden beds, in the lawn, in my flowerpots, courtesy of Cyril Squirrel!

Oh crikey, same here! I spend hours pulling up tiny oak trees which are growing in very inappropriate places. I could grow my very own QE2 Memorial Oak Wood, and give it a few years, could provide the wood for the benches and tables too!

When all is said and done, it will be hard to see the face when the statue is placed in situ unless you climb a ladder , unlike the statues of the mediaeval kings that are inside the Minster!

I think it will be okay from a distance.

Just had a quick look 25Avalon - not the best I have to agree. It looks more like Princess Margaret ?

I agree to it looks more like princess Margaret especially around the mouth.
Though neither of them really on reflection a bit like a chimp around the mouth and the Queen would never have such bouffant hair!

She looks far too stern. Her face is much softer

In earlier times, they'd have been sent to 'The Tower' for an insult like that.

It's a statue, Can't think of any that look particularly great of anyone alive today and once they are dead there's nothin to compare them with.

Maybe it's her Meghan and Harry face

I'm not impressed with the queen status and diana's both could have been much better

Oh dear! Apart from the hair and the crown I wouldn’t have known it was supposed to be the Queen.

Awful it doesn’t look anything like our Queen.

Dont forget its going to be up quite high on the front of the Minster.so the face markings need to be exaggerated see you can recognise the who it is.Not eye level where you can walk round it.
As for Diana's that one is awful!

Having looked at all the pictures of the planned statue not just the one, I think it’ll look quite good when completed.

just had a look and think its dreadful, nothing like the queen.

It is definitely scary and nothing like the Queen as we know her.
