Moving to Lincolnshire

Louth is lovely and the woods are beautiful. However, roads do get tricky in the winter. We live in a village south of Lincoln which I love as it is on the ‘cliff edge’, so some relief to the landscape and lovely stone buildings, Boston would be too flat for me and as others have mentioned there are some problems there. Where we are situated we are halfway between Lincoln and Newark which has very good rail connections and the A1.

Ten minute train from Stamford to Peterborough and 50 minute fast train to London?

I couldn't get over how many churches there were but looked it up and it's because it is in the middle of so many boroughs and each borough wanted to build a better church. I think there was something like 15 at one point. I should google really

It is a good place for a night out too

I am sure we always end up suggesting the same places Peasblossom on these threads we most probably live a couple of doors away from one another and haven't realised

Have a look at the Peterborough area, all sorts of different villages from modern to old round and about, and excellent London train service.

Sorry, I feel like I'm stalking you now, it's just I don't recall anyone asking for advice on Lincolnshire before.
I've never been to Stamford but, it does sound lovely, and fits your travel criteria.
Perhaps Louth might be a bit too far/difficult to get to, but, I really would have a look at Lincoln. It really is the most beautiful place, not like a city at all and you could drive to both Colchester and Barking in just under 3 hours.

Grannyben you are being most helpful and definitely not stalking me ? I’m actually looking around Lincoln as it looks very nice ?? Had a little look over at Southwell as was suggested and I like that as well,in fact everything has been very helpful,now got more of a dilemma as to what county to look around

Have you considered North Suffolk? Quite rural, with attractive coastal towns. Takes about 2 hours driving to London. Prices vary, maybe more expensive than Lincolnshire

Definitely more expensive these days - as is most of Norfolk.

Southwell is lovely but will be more expensive than Louth.

I hope this isn't being too nosey Lenny but what are your reasons for Louth? I travelled there last week from West Yorks so don't want to offer my opinion out of context.

Ahhh definitely not being nosey whatdayisit,I was looking at Lincolnshire as a whole and Louth just happened to have some nice properties and I liked the idea of a market town.To be honest I’d consider anywhere away from Colchester and Ipswich ?

If it helps your decision OP, Lincoln also has a couple of superb cheese shops - and you can work off any excess calories walking up and down the hill to buy your next fix!

North Lincolnshire propertiesmust be a lot cheaper. It takes a very long time to get there from anywhere and the roads are so winding.
I wouldn't go any further North than Lincoln in that County. Have you looked at Grantham?
We have family who moved to Mablethorpe. There are some beautiful villages but there are everywhere.

Stamford certainly a good bet lovely town with lots to do nice shops straight on the A1 or main line to Leave noon. However it can be pricey. Have a look at Melton Mowbray...we just had 10 happy years there. House prices are surprisingly good and easy access to everywhere by road and rail.

Melton Mowbary must have a cheese shop too and lots of por pies?
